Just, Like, a Bunch of New Movie Trailers
I don’t know what’s happening, but a ton of new movie trailers came out this past week. Avengers: Endgame is a month away. Are they gearing up to go before Us? Maybe!
Also, a surprising number of these trailers feature Ian McShane. Good for him!
First, here’s a trailer for John Wick 3: Parabellum.
I don’t know what the subtitle is about. Why does John Wick 3 need an awkward, cumbersome word tacked onto the end? Either way, it’ll hopefully be a fun film. They managed to stretch the first John Wick into one sequel, let’s see if they can do it for a threequel!
Next up is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Quentin Tarantino makes good movies and this one should be no different!
Lastly, there’s finally a trailer for the finally made Deadwood movie on HBO! How insane is it that this actually exists?
Deadwood is a great TV show that ended with a stilted third season. They were ramping up for something big, then HBO pulled the plug and left the show and viewers dangling in the cold. Now, seemingly against all odds, they’ve all come back for a wrap-up movie a decade or so later. It’s madness!
But you’re damn right I’m gonna watch, you hoopleheads!

Temptation Comes for Woody Again in Toy Story 4
Man, Woody really has a hard time learning his lesson, doesn’t he? How many times is Woody going to be tempted into settling for a life beyond belonging to his chosen child? And how many times is he going to go back to that child?
At least once more, it seems. Here comes Toy Story 4!
I like the Toy Story films as much as the next person, but it’s OK to let a good thing come to an end at the appropriate time. What’s the driving story this time? That Woody has to be tempted by life in a carnival? Instead of in a museum or in a daycare? What the heck would Woody even do in a carnival?
Not to mention all the weird existential questions that arise from the introduction of Forky. The Toy Story universe doesn’t need any more existential questions!

New Avengers: Endgame Trailer Comes Out of Nowhere!
Oh man, were we expecting a new Avengers: Endgame trailer today?! Here it is, out of nowhere, and it gave me chills! This looks great!
We even get a stinger of Captain Marvel at the end. I think that stinger could have been stronger, but I suppose they don’t want to give too much away…especially if they put this new trailer in front of Captain Marvel for its second weekend.
But what a great trailer! Builds the drama, draws on the past movies, really gathers the heroes into something truly great…and none of the story has been given away! The Avengers group up and try to do something to save the world! I hope it’s going to be great!
Also, on a personal note, Ant-Man remains my favorite movie Avenger. And just seeing Scott Lang suited up and walking alongside the full-on Avengers is pretty fun!

I’m Not Feeling the Aladdin Trailer
I’m not digging it. The first full Aladdin live action trailer came out yesterday, and I just…I dunno, it seems too busy. Obviously there’s a lot of style and pizzazz and stuff. It all makes sense. But it looks too…I dunno. Tacky? Gaudy? Perhaps it’s just not my style of design aesthetic.
What do you think? The cartoon Aladdin is one of the best. Can this live action one live up to that energy? Also, for the record, I have zero problems with the Will Smith genie. Looks fine to me.

6 Thoughts on Captain Marvel
The first Marvel superhero movie with a female lead is here and it’s quite awesome! Let us hope Marvel does not hesitate to make more. Captain Marvel has walked a rocky road in the comics, but it looks like she’ll have a nice, clean, straightforward role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Movie Rating: 8/10 – Very Good.
If I had to rank Captain Marvel, I think I’d put it in the upper middle tier of MCU films. It’s not top tier, like Black Panther or the Avengers films, but it’s damn good. I loved pretty much everything about this film. I look forward to seeing Carol show up in Avengers: Endgame, and I look forward to sequels. Simple as that. I’m a Marvel movie fanboy and I do not apologize for that fact!
