Our First Superman Trailer is Here!
The hype has been building all week and the trailer is finally here! Our first look at James Gunn’s Superman movie!
I dig it! I like almost all of the elements in this trailer and I am fully on board with this vision of Superman. I’m fully on board with everything James Gunn wants to do or would like to do. I don’t think he has ever led me astray. So bring it on!
I loved Krypto. I loved the look of Superman and pretty much all of the characters. I dig the tone. And we don’t know much of anything yet, so it definitely counts as just a teaser. We see a ton of stuff in this trailer and all of it looks good to me.
The only thing I don’t like is the reliance on the original Superman movie theme and any of that imagery. I know that everybody loves those original Christopher Reeves movies…but I don’t really care about them. And I don’t want every single new Superman adaptation to be beholden to them. I know that musical score is fantastic…but c’mon. This was a great chance to be wholly original. Ah well. I’m never going to win that argument.
Superman comes to theaters on July 11.

If You Like Indiana Jones, There’s Going to be a Video Game!
The launch trailer arrived yesterday for the upcoming video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I haven’t been following this game development at all because I’m not a big Indiana Jones guy and this game does not look like my usual style. But I’m sharing it anyway because maybe you’re both of those things!
Looks like an Uncharted or Tomb Raider game with a lot of first person elements, and a ton of story involvement. Lots of puzzles to solve. The whip is a major weapon. This could end up being just a really fun, interactive Indiana Jones adventure…which, honestly, is perfect for video games and anything else. I’m not someone who is slavishly beholden to the casting of Harrison Ford as Indy. Was he great in the role once upon a time? Obviously. But we’ve had plenty of great James Bonds.
Anyway, if this is your cup of tea, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle comes to all platforms on Dec. 9, so it’s less than a week away! Consider it an early Christmas present to yourself.

I Don’t Like Keanu Reeves as the Voice of Shadow the Hedgehog
The voice just isn’t working for me. We’ve heard only snippets in a pair of trailers so far, and I just can’t put the voice and the character together in my mind. I can’t wrap my head around it. I just hear Keanu, in a rather flat, but also kinda normal for him performance. And I don’t hear Shadow, this crazy, energy-filled new villain character.
See it for yourself in this new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The movie itself looks…like a Sonic sequel. It looks like a crazy, wild, mania-infused Sonic threequel. And that’s fine. I’ve never been the biggest fan of these films, but I’ve watched them and the Knuckles show and I’ll definitely see Sonic 3 in the theaters. And then the voice will probably work for me. I guess I just have to have faith in this crazy world we live in. Things will probably work out…with this movie.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 comes to theaters on Dec. 20, so it’s a month away.

How About Some Animated Movie Trailers to End the Week?
It’s finally Friday. The week is over. I don’t have any comic reviews coming this weekend and would rather just ease into Thanksgiving next week. To help accomplish that, how about some animated movie trailers that randomly arrived yesterday? Did all these trailers come out to go before Wicked this weekend? I dunno.
First up is a full trailer for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, coming to Netflix next year!
Who doesn’t love Wallace & Gromit? It’s been about a decade since we had a new movie and I’m ready for more claymation fun! I don’t have much of a memory for the early films, but this is a sequel to the original Wrong Trousers movie. I should go back and watch to make sure I understand all the references!
New Wallace & Gromit comes to Netflix on Jan. 3.
Next up is a surprise trailer for The Bad Guys 2, a movie nobody knew was coming out until now.
I avoided the first Bad Guys for the longest time because I didn’t care, but then watched it last Christmas when I was hanging out with my family and they highly recommended a watch. Then we watched their new Christmas special and it was garbage. So hopefully an actual, theatrical sequel will be much better.
The Bad Guys 2 is coming to theaters on Aug. 1, so it’s a long ways away.
Lastly, we have another look at the next Pixar film, Elio, which looks neat.
I really enjoyed the first Elio trailer that came out a million years ago. This trailer seems more childish and silly, which we’ll see how that works out. But I like the premise, at least. Could be a lot of fun. Or it could be another Strange World. Hard to tell this far out.
Elio comes to theaters on June 13!

Some Weird Movie Trailers for Wednesday
It’s Wednesday. Life is OK. Let’s start today with some pretty far out movie trailers. And by ‘far out’ I mean just plain weird. And by ‘weird’ I mean they’re pretty typical for the sort of movies we get these days.
First up is a full trailer for the Minecraft movie, in which they actually use the meme phrase ‘children yearn for the mines,’ to which I applaud them.
Man, I just don’t know. I enjoyed Minecraft when I played for that one brief period, building all sorts of neato stuff in my private little world. I still like Jack Black. And, honestly, this trailer sold me on the idea of having people from the real world go into Minecraft and use the world just like the game. They can place blocks, use the forge, chop down trees by punching them; it’s just Minecraft with real people! That’s kinda neat.
Minecraft comes to theaters on April 4 next year.
Next up is the live action trailer for How to Train Your Dragon, proving that Disney isn’t the only one who can make live action version of classic animated films.
This looks so bad. This looks so unnecessary. Toothless looks exactly the same. Did the lesson Dreamworks learn from the Disney live action movies is to not deviate at all and just make the exact same movie but in live action? I hated when Disney did that with Lion King. This one does not look appealing at all. But it’s happening, so I’m sharing the trailer.
How to Train Your Dragon comes to theaters on June 13 next year.
