Did…Did Tom Taylor Just Marry Himself to Gabby?

Tom Taylor is the writer of All-New Wolverine and X-Men Red, and I’m a really big fan. His biggest contribution so far to the world of the X-Men is the creation of Gabby, the joyful and adorable clone sidekick of X-23. Gabby, also known as Honey Badger, is just plain great. There’s no arguing that point.

But something really weird happened in this week’s issue of All-New Wolverine. I’m not trying to make any judgments here, I just want to run it by you all.

The story takes place in an alternate future, where Gabby is the new Wolverine and Laura is the queen of Madripoor. They’re still the best of sister friends and hang out together. And in doing so, Laura asks Gabby about her family…about Gabby’s husband and kids…

Gabby Taylor 01

You see it, right?

Like, there are no characters named “Taylor” with whom Gabby has had any sort of flirtation or anything of the like. Writer Tom Taylor simply decided that adult Gabby would have an unseen husband and kids, and that this unseen husband would be named “Taylor”.

That’s weird, right? That he named Gabby’s future husband after himself?

Yeah, that’s pretty weird…

The 6 Weirdest Versions of the Thing

The Fantastic Four are coming back to comics, like we all knew they would eventually. I still can’t believe how many people complained about not having a regular Fantastic Four comic. It was clearly temporary. And honestly, for me personally, the scenes we got between the Thing, Human Torch and Doctor Doom lamenting the loss of the Four in the pages of Infamous Iron Man were absolutely worth not having a regular comic.

Thing List 01

Hold on, he’s got to take this

To celebrate the return of the Fantastic Four — by writer Dan Slott and artist Sara Pichelli — I’m pulling out a List of Six draft I’ve had gathering dust on my blog dashboard for years! The Thing is one of the all-time great comic book characters. From his name to his attitude to his pathos to his battle cry to his sheer boisterous spirit, the Thing is pretty fantastic! And because he’s so fantastic, there have been some pretty weird versions of the Thing over the years!

Join me after the jump for some really crazy alternate versions of the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing!

6 Things I Want to See in Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War is only about a month away and the hype is pretty stellar. Will Marvel be able to maintain a solid, exciting movie with so many characters and so much anticipation? I’m confident that they can and I can’t wait for the movie! And, of course, I have certain expectations!

Inf War See List 01

It’s almost here!

No, my enjoyment of the film will not rest on whether my expectations are met. I am hopefully not going to hold Avengers: Infinity War to any standards other than its own. But there are plenty of neat things I can speculate about or hope for in the film. I’m fairly confident that the trailers haven’t given everything away. I’m sure there’s so much left to see and do and experience!

Join me after the jump for all the bits and pieces I hope we get to see in Avengers: Infinity War!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/24/18

Allow me to use this space as a warning to all: don’t get old! Apparently I’ve developed seasonal allergies! Ugh! This sucks! I want my face back!

Anyway, buncha fun comics this week, from Batman to Ms. Marvel to a big and epic Mighty Thor. Comic Book of the Week was a tough call between the delightful new issue of Runaways and the dramatic Mighty Thor, but I think Thor gets a nudge ahead for being such a milestone issue.

Jane Thor 01

Says you

I’m so glad writer Jason Aaron is sticking with Thor for the forseeable future, though I’m disappointed that artist Russell Dauterman is leaving the series. Wherever Dauterman goes next, it’s bound to be amazing.

Comic Reviews: Batman #43, Mighty Thor #705, Ms. Marvel #28 and Runaways #7.

Deadpool 2 Still Looks Good!

A new Deadpool 2 trailer randomly arrived yesterday afternoon…and here it is!

This new trailer shows off a ton of new footage, including the creation of X-Force! No real explanation for who the new mutants are, though, which is too bad. We want X-cameos! At least everything still seems pretty funny.
