Venom + Flubber = Internet Comedy
This was a funny video I stumbled upon the other day, and I’d say it’s worth all of the chuckles. Just all of them. Built by the Nerdist. Stay all the way until the end, where it really comes together.
Good old Internet. When it comes to weird comedy, you almost never let me down!
Still no telling how the Venom movie is going to be…

Strong Guy Watch: An Even Bigger Beard!
I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that Strong Guy isn’t dead. The final issue of New Mutants – Dead Souls came out this week, and Strong Guy is still alive!
The bad news is he spent several years in Hell, so he’s been abnormally aged. But he’s now got a badass long beard.
The bad news is also that the issue ends with Strong Guy and most of the New Mutants being taken over by some new evil version of Warlock. I think?
I dunno. It’s a weird place to end a mini-series, since I don’t think the continuation of this story has been announced anywhere. So I’m not entirely sure what happens next.
The good thing is, though, that Strong Guy is still alive. So to speak. That’s mostly what I care about.

So The Mimic is Probably Going to Die Soon
This is my life as a fan of obscure comic book characters. Marvel killed one of my all-time favorite comic book characters earlier this year — Phil Urich — shortly after announcing a Multiple Man comic book, resurrecting another of my all-time favorite comic book characters. This past week or so, there were hints that the one, true Jamie Madrox was coming back from the dead for real…so of course that has to be met with Mimic showing up in the X-Men Extermination mini-series.
This is a preview for issue #2, which comes out this week.
Obviously, Calvin Rankin isn’t dead in those pages, he’s just subdued and will likely show up later to serve some purpose.
But c’mon, we all know how this ends. You don’t bring the Mimic out of comic book limbo like this if you’re not going to kill him somehow. That’s how comics work, and more importantly, that’s how my luck works.
(For example, this week also features the final issue of the New Mutants mini-series, where we’ll learn the final fate of Strong Guy. Considering he wasn’t part of that big Uncanny X-Men group shot, it’s not looking too good for him either.)
For those who aren’t paying attention, Extermination is the final story featuring the time-displaced teen X-Men. That guy up there shooting Mimic is a younger version of Cable, who has traveled back in time to kill people. He’s already killed adult Cable (a character who definitely won’t stay dead for long) and Bloodstorm, that alternate reality Storm who is a vampire, and who has randomly been a part of the teen X-Men comics for awhile. I dunno.
Suffice to say, however Extermination uses Mimic, I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that he’s probably going to die by the end.
There’s almost no point in getting excited for when my favorite comic book characters show up anymore…It’s far more likely that they’re going to be killed than it is for them to do something awesome. How messed up is that?!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/25/18
It’s Kelly Thompson Week! This lady is on fire at Marvel right now, and we get two of her books this week, Mr. & Mrs. X and West Coast Avengers! That’s pretty darn awesome! We’ve also got more Superman and Spider-Man comics, but who cares about them?
Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of Thompson’s new West Coast Avengers for a really fun team book that doesn’t waste any time — though I had more than a few nitpicky problems.
Fair warning, everybody, I was apparently in fine form writing these reviews this week. Nothing particularly stood out as all that great, while I found so much to nitpick to death, including in some of my favorite comics!
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1001, Amazing Spider-Man #4, Mr. & Mrs. X #2, The Silencer #8 and West Coast Avengers #1.
How About Some Marvel Cartoons?
I dunno you guys, I haven’t been getting the proper amount of sleep this week. I am beat! And I don’t know what else to post today. So how about an official collection of all the Marvel Rising: Initiation cartoons? I dunno, they’re pretty fun. And it’s got awesome animated cartoon Squirrel Girl teaming up with awesome animated cartoon Kamala Khan! That’s pretty darn cool!
Though the funniest thing is how badly Marvel wants to change the name of Spider-Gwen to Ghost Spider. It’s insane. How does that name even work? Just because her Spider-Girl outfit is white? I thought these people were professional writers?
