HISHE Goes the Extra Brick For LEGO Batman!
Those funny people at How It Should Have Ended are back again to give my lazy, sweltering Monday something funny to share. Seriously, though, it’s 90-degrees for, like, the second day in a row. I’m only human here!
Anyway, LEGO Batman!
That’s definitely going the extra mile! Using stop-motion LEGO animation to recreate and re-end the end to that movie? Brilliant! Good work, all you crazy people, you!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/10/17
Good news, everybody! My time is my own again and the bonus Wednesday is out of the way, so I’m back to buying and reading an entire pile of comics! But bad news, too! Because as has been the case with me and comics, all of my favorite comics come out in one week, and there’s no way I can get to them all.
So this week sees new issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Batman, Hawkeye and Nova! But I had to pass on new issues of Harley Quinn and Unstoppable Wasp, just for time! Fortunately, I made room for the Comic Book of the Week: Iceman #1! He’s my favorite
X-Man and he’s finally got a solid solo comic!
Speaking of comics I read but didn’t review, the new issue of Harley Quinn is pretty nifty! We learn the secret origin of Red Tool, even though I didn’t know he had a secret origin! I’m gonna do a write up on it next week in case you want the fully skinny.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #28, Batman #24, Hawkeye #7, Iceman #1 and Nova #7.
Batman Did What?! (Or the Fluidity of Comic Book Permanence)
If you haven’t heard the news yet this week, the latest issue of Batman has a pretty massive, life-altering cliffhanger ending on the last page. It’s the sort of big, momentous event that could change the entire course of a character’s life. It definitely has that effect on people in the real world.
But this is comic books we’re talking about here. I don’t really know if the fan response has been positive or negative, but I want to take a moment to explain my current thoughts on these sorts of big changes.
Will this new change be a permanent fixture in Batman’s life going forward? What about Captain America being a fascist in Secret Empire? Or what about that time Doctor Octopus swapped brains with Peter Parker and became the Superior Spider-Man? Personally, I think it all fits together in the general understanding of comic book fluidity.
Join me after the jump to find out exactly what Batman has done now, along with my thoughts on comic book story permanence and why everybody should just calm down.
6 Thoughts on the Wonder Woman Movie
Like the lazy schmuck I am, I stopped doing full movie reviews awhile ago. There just wasn’t time between seeing the Thursday night early showings and having to go to work the next morning. Plus, considering all Marvel movies are generally good to great, how much more need be said? And it’s not like my reviews were making it to Rotten Tomatoes…
So now I’ll deliver my Wonder Woman review in List of Six form! It’s much more fun that way.
Movie Rating: 8/10 – Very Good
Overall, I enjoyed Wonder Woman quite a bit. It’s got solid superheroics with a lot of heart. It’s not a genre-game changer and it doesn’t redefine the superhero movie, but it’s still very good, and that counts for a lot. Is it the best movie in the DCEU? Of course! But that wasn’t a high bar to reach. I thought Man of Steel was a bad movie, and Batman V. Superman is not much better. And I actively forget that Suicide Squad was a thing.
But hey, Wonder Woman is a fine film! Join me after the jump for my thoughts! And FULL SPOILERS for the movie, so watch yourself.
Forgotten Characters: Element Woman
Whatever happened to Element Woman?
Back when the New 52 continuity actually mattered and tried to hold itself together, Element Woman was one of the first, permanent new members of the Justice League! She was created and written by Geoff Johns himself!
But her introduction was part of a larger storyline leading into the Forever Evil crossover. And then she immediately disappeared and got shuffled off to the nonexistent Doom Patrol. She hasn’t been seen since, and definitely hasn’t had a part to play in Rebirth.
What happened? Why would this awesome new character get such a short shrift? Join me after the jump to help commiserate!
