Catwoman Sure Was a Stinker

Wonder Woman was a good movie and a lot of fun! Catwoman was not, honestly.

Heh, good way to start a Monday. Honest Trailers will always be there for us. And I’m sure we’ll get a Wonder Woman Honest Trailer before too long! I’ll probably start another Monday with that, too!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/3/17

Happy Wonder Woman Weekend, everybody? Have you seen the movie yet? I did the other night and I quite enjoyed it! Wonder Woman was solid superheroics and a lot of heart. It wasn’t a genre game-changer, but it was easily as good as some Marvel movies. I might actually be legitimately interested in seeing her in Justice League now.

And might as well make the Wonder Woman Annual issue the Comic Book of the Week! It was a Fifth Wednesday this week, so there were not a lot of new comics. I also scoped out new issues of Hulk and Generation X, but the Wonder Woman Annual was delightful.

Nicola Scott’s artwork is pretty much perfect

Meanwhile, Secret Empire also continues onward, and I’m still enjoying it. It’s a little scattershot at the moment, with a whole bunch of simultaneous plot lines, but I’m still happy with it on a general, entertained level. Though Secret Empire feels more like an alternate reality or What If issue than an actual, in-continuity storyline.

Comic Reviews: Generation X #2, Hulk #6 and Wonder Woman Annual #1.

6 Best Wonder Woman Knock-Offs

Superman is the first comic book superhero and obviously the most famous. Superman is as iconic as Mickey Mouse, if not more so. And where there is popularity and fame, there are rip-offs. Comics are filled with Superman knock-offs. Whether it’s Shazam or Hyperion or The Sentry, everybody loves copying Superman (and making lists about it on the Internet).

But what about Wonder Woman? Doesn’t she deserve some off-brand characters? Especially with a new movie coming out this weekend!

WW KO List 01

I hear there’s a movie coming out this weekend

Heck yeah, she does! In the spirit of equality and doing my duty to fill the Internet with more comic book lists, I’ve scoured comicdom to find all the best Wonder Woman rip-offs. Because why should Superman have all the fun of Internet lists? He’s not so great!

Join me after the jump for all the best would-be Wonder Women!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/20/17

Boy, what a couple of weeks, huh? In my day job as a newspaper reporter, I have been wrapped up covering a high profile murder trial since late last month! And then there were those couple of days I was in the hospital! It’s been a crazy time, and it’s cut into my comic reading. A shame really, since we’ve had some good comics in the past few weeks.

This week in particular, we’ve got new issues of Batwoman, Squirrel Girl and The Wild Storm, along with debut issues of Generation X and Luke Cage, both of which were highly anticipated by yours truly! And sure enough, the spiritual successor to Power Man and Iron Fist wins Comic Book of the Week for another awesome story by David F. Walker!

Go ahead, punk, make his day

Meanwhile, in comics I read but didn’t review, Harley Quinn kicked off a fun new story, though I think I’m gonna skip this one. Power Rangers was an interlude issue about Zordon, and was still good. And the second issue of Secret Empire kept the story rolling along, but mostly served to spin-off into the various tie-in titles. All-in-all, a fine week in comics.

I even enjoyed the new issue of X-Men Gold, so I may have to try that series again.

Comic Reviews: Batwoman #3, Generation X #1, Luke Cage #1, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #20 and The Wild Storm #4.

I Will Probably Give Black Lightning a Try

I’m going to level with you henchies: I’ve stopped watching the DC superhero shows on The CW. Once upon a time, they were my favorite shows! Arrow was great! But I’ve stopped watching all of them, even The Flash. Especially The Flash. Ugh. I just can’t stand the lunacy anymore.

But hey, maybe I’ll give Black Lightning a try when it comes out.

I’ve got no particular interest in Black Lightning as a character. And I’ve got no reason to believe this show will be any different from the crap shows the others have become. But I’m an open-minded fella.
