Help Me Kickstart Gamer Girl & Vixen!

The Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter exploded out of the gate, my friends! I launched the campaign last Saturday and we’ve already blown past 50% funded. You Henchies have been reading along with the production of my comic for months now, so you can imagine how exciting these past few days have been. A couple of you have already pledged – and I’m eternally grateful – so now I’m here to convince everybody else to get on board!

We’re offering a lot of great rewards at low, low prices, and every pledge tier comes with a Gamer Girl & Vixen comic! If you’d like to pre-order my comic, now is the time!

You Henchies have already seen a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff on GG&V so far, but now the rest of the world is getting to peek inside everything we’ve been working on and it’s a lot of fun. If you’re interested in learning a bit more, you can check out a couple great interviews at Comics Alliance, The Outhousers and Rhymes with Geek.

And there’s our first official review at Word of the Nerd!

People are really responding to Gamer Girl & Vixen and it’s more exciting than I could have possibly imagined! I invite all you Henchie readers to visit the Kickstarter and check it out for yourselves. Do it for your old pal/favorite blog writer Sean!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/16/15

If you haven’t seen the news yet, the Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter has officially launched! This is my first self-published comic and my first Kickstarter, so you better believe I’m going to be on pins and needles for the next month! Click on over and check out the Kickstarter, my comic reviews will wait.

Back? Alright, on with the reviews! This was a pretty great week for me, seeing as how we got new issues of both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel, and both were really good. We also got new issues of Thor, Darth Vader and Silk, three more of my favorite comics. But only one can win Comic Book of the Week, and that would be Captain Marvel #15 as writer Kelly Sue DeConnick signs off ahead of Secret Wars. It’s a very touching, enjoyable issue.

Those faces!

Of course, it’s just my luck that Carol finally returns to Earth just in time to go on hiatus for Secret Wars. But I’m pretty sure the issue where she finally meets Kamala Khan is coming up! Somebody remind me to track that down.

Over at Word of the Nerd, you can read my continuing coverage of Secret Wars. It’s still pretty good so far. And much like Convergence at DC Comics, I really don’t think I’m going to be touching many of the tie-in comics. So honestly, I’m not sure what I’m going to even review for the next few months…so maybe indie comic bonanza!

Comic Reviews: Captain Marvel #15, Darth Vader #5, Ms. Marvel #15, Silk #4 and Thor #8.

Hey, speaking of indie comics, did you hear that I’m running a Kickstarter?

Pitch Perfect was One of the Inspirations for Gamer Girl & Vixen

I think it’s rather fitting that the Kickstarter for my comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen, is going to launch on the same weekend as the sequel to Pitch Perfect, one of the inspirations behind my comic. My friend and co-writer Kristi McDowell introduced me to the movie, one of her favorites, and I absolutely loved it. I love a good musical. And Anna Kendrick is the Gamer Girl & Vixen spirit animal.

So what better way to celebrate than with a showing of Everything Wrong With Pitch Perfect!

Thank you, Cinema Sins, for giving me something awesome to post on the eve of my Kickstarter. I’m so excited, you guys and gals! We launch tomorrow morning!

Also, we’re big Beca/Chloe ‘shippers. I’m not ashamed to admit that.

6 Characters I Can Blame For the Common Cold

Ugh. Is there any worse feeling than trying to shake the last days of a cold? Probably, but for me right now, there definitely isn’t. I’ve been battling this bug for days now and I just want my nose to work properly again! Is that too much to ask?!

Help me, monster!

At any rate, as with all things that crop up in a given week, I’ve decided to turn my cold into a List of Six! So I scoured the world of pop culture to find six characters, good and bad, who revel in disease and infection. It’s not going to be pretty. You might want to have a box of tissues handy before joining me after the jump!
