Teen Titans vs. Teen Titans!

The next DC animated movie is going to be Teen Titans Go! vs. the classic Teen Titans! The first trailer is here and it looks hilariously awesome!

I’m a huge fan of Teen Titans Go! I know a lot of classic Titans fans hate it, but nuts to them! Teen Titans Go! is hilarious and a lot of fun. And they know exactly how to get in their digs, which this entire movie seems to be about. I love when the show does that, and I hope to love what we’re going to see next!

Boba Fett is So Radical!

I’ve been watching the Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures shorts for awhile. They’re just plain fun! And now they’ve finally done one starring Boba Fett!

I’m a big Boba Fett fan! He’s such a fun guy. He’s a total badass. And his design is one of the all-time greatest designs in the history of science fiction. So enjoy this short bit of Boba Fett awesomeness this morning!

New Pixar Film Dives Into Urban Fantasy

I really enjoy the Urban Fantasy trope — the idea of taking all those classic elements like elves, dragons, unicorns and more and putting them in a modern setting. The new film is Onward, about two elf brothers on a quest!

Looks neat to me! I think we’re past the age where Pixar movies are all wonderful works of art and are now just traditional animated films, but whatever. Should still be fun and well-made.

How a Bunch of Movies Should Have Ended

Sometimes when I’m coming up with things to post on my blog, I collect a bunch of fun YouTube videos to save for a rainy day. Today is that day. So let’s run through a bunch of How It Should Have Ended videos!

First up is the one for Bumblebee, which is pretty fun! I enjoyed the movie, and this video is fun and clever with the absolute perfect ending. The girl totally should have stuck around with Bumblebee!

Pretty fun. Great voice work stuff in that one. But they should have pushed it one step further and had Hailee Steinfeld team up with Shia LeBeouf!

Anyway, here’s the one for Shazam! In which I start to notice a disturbing trend…

Is this “How It Should Have Ended” or is it “let’s just make a bunch of jokes”. They completely threw away their own premise! And it gets even worse with the one for Aladdin!

What is going on?! Granted, it’s an alternate ending to the movie, but really it’s just the creators riffing on a random plot thread from Aladdin. They do a perfectly fine Robin Williams impression, but it’s just a bunch of jokes about the Aladdin premise, not a bunch of clever alternate possibilities for the ending.

They’re losing track of their own selves!

I Love Me Some Robins!

Longtime Henchies know that I’m a big fan of Robin. He’s one of my all-time favorite superheroes. And now animated fun guy Noah Sterling has used his nifty YouTube channel to run through the history of all the Robins. Fun times!

Yeah, the history of the Robins is weird. But fundamentally, Robin is awesome. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Also, since this video was made, I think DC is retconning their retcon and Stephnie Brown did serve as Robin. It’s confusing, but important to note.

Double also, while I’m on the subject, I’m starting to wonder if my disinterest in DC Comics as a whole these days has anything to do with the lack of a fundamental Robin. The team of Batman and Robin hasn’t been a thing for a while now. Damian Wayne is, technically, the current Robin, but he hasn’t been his father’s sidekick for years. He’s off running the Teen Titans and hanging out with Superman’s son. Tim Drake has been retconned back to being Robin, but he’s also been his own man for a while, and now he’s running Young Justice. Duke Thomas became Batman’s new partner, but DC went and gave him super-powers and made him The Signal instead, and now he’s a member of the Outsiders.

So DC simply does not have a Batman and Robin team, which is really disappointing. As much as I love Robin, I mostly love him in the context of being Batman’s partner. So I dunno, I think I’m just griping. Fun video, at least.
