Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/2/16

Speaking of dropping the ball…turns out I was too busy partying and playing video games to read too many comics in the new year. I had some vague plans about getting caught up on Black Canary or Batman and Robin Eternal so that this week’s reviews would pack a little bit of a punch, at least. But I’m apparently going to start 2016 with a whimper! Woot! I did manage to read and review the newest issue of All-New Wolverine, though, so I think that wins Comic Book of the Week by default!

Just Wolverine stuff

It’s OK, though. There weren’t many comics out this week anyway. Don’t worry, starting next week, the world goes back to normal.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #3.

My 6 Favorite Things of 2015

And so we bid goodbye to another year. Overall, I think 2015 was good to me. I went to England, the first time I’ve been out of the country. I had a successful Kickstarter and self-published my first comic book, Gamer Girl & Vixen. I bought a new high-end computer. I got two new winter coats. Life is pretty good, all things considered.

So let’s engage in that great Internet tradition of counting down all the best pop culture of the year!

It was a year

What was my favorite movie of the year? My favorite comic book or TV show? Did I buy any good action figures this year? I know for a fact that I didn’t hear any new or interesting music in 2015, because I’m a square. But we definitely had a lot of fun stuff! From Age of Ultron to The Force Awakens, what did 2015 have in store?

And please share your own favorites in the comments!

Star Wars Isn’t the Only Movie in the Universe – Here are the New Ghostbusters!

A couple weeks ago, during the big Star Wars hoopla, the new Ghostbuster movie dropped a few awesome, official character posters on the yearning public. I forgot all about them for awhile, but wanted to share them anyway, because they are badass.

There’s Abby Yates, played by Melissa McCarthy; Patty Tolan, played by Leslie Jones; Jillian Holtzmann, played by Kate McKinnon; and Erin Gilbert, played by Kristen Wiig.

I definitely like the look, and I’m looking forward to this movie.

Waste a Couple Hours of Your Day By Designing Your Own Lightsaber!

So I randomly came upon a website yesterday that lets you design your own lightsaber. We all know how deep the Internet rabbit hole goes when you’re just randomly surfing, and yesterday, I discovered Saber Parts!

Behold, my masterpiece!

Yes, I know it’s a double-bladed purple lightsaber. Don’t judge me!

Anyway, it’s just another silly, fun thing that geniuses on the Internet have invented. I say go nuts!

Our First Look at Doctor Strange Is Here! (Update!)

Update! Even more images have hit the Internet! Check them out after the jump!

This is a pleasant surprise! From out of nowhere, Entertainment Weekly has revealed the cover of their upcoming issue, featuring the first look anywhere of actor Benedict Cumberbatch in costume as Doctor Strange! I haven’t seen any set photos or anything else so far, so this cover is it! And he looks pretty great!

I’m not saying he looks perfect, but I’m liking what we can see here. I like the put-together look of his outfit, with the multitude of belts and realistic looking clothing and cloak. His hair and goatee look fine, and the magic symbol is nifty.

To see a few more official images, join us after the jump!
