6 Villains I Want to See on Future Marvel Netflix Shows

This past weekend, I rewatched Daredevil on Netflix, and it still holds up! I’m doubly excited now for the second season in March! Likewise, Netflix and Marvel have announced a second season of Jessica Jones, and there are rumors on the wind of a Punisher show as well. Clearly, this big Marvel experiment has been a huge success, and hopefully it’s only going to get bigger and better from here!

And with new shows and seasons comes a need for new bad guys!

Where are their Emmys?

The Luke Cage show is scheduled to debut later this year. Iron Fist is still in the works. And The Defenders will be here before we know it. It’s a great time to be a Marvel fan — and a Marvel villain! Everyone agrees that the bad guys who star in these shows are some of the best Marvel is putting out, possibly because we have a whole season to get to know them instead of a 2-hour movie. Wilson Fisk on Daredevil and Kilgrave on Jessica Jones have made for great TV, but who else can Marvel use on the small screen?

Join me after the jump for six super-villains that I think would be great for upcoming Netflix shows!

Behold, Our Justice League!

It’s never too soon to start the hype machine, so here is our first ever look at the entire movie Justice League! It’s only concept art for now, but this is it!

Is ‘Dawn’ really the strongest word they could come up with?

The art is to promote an upcoming TV special about building the movie Justice League, which is part of the larger media blitz for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is our first official look at Cyborg and Flash, even if it’s not a very good look. But this could be a lot worse!

Also, now that I think about it, does anybody else find it a little weird that, after the Big Three, the most promoted DC superhero at this point is Aquaman? To be fair, I’m super excited for Jason Momoa’s performance, but still, Aquaman? You’ve got Flash and Cyborg waiting in the wings, but you’re leading with Aquaman?

Just kind of interesting, is all.

Punisher and More Jessica Jones Coming to Netflix

This wonderful news arrived over the weekend, and while that makes my announcement rather late, I still wanted to make note: Netflix and Marvel have announced that Jessica Jones will return for a second season, and they’re also working on a new Punisher show following actor Jon Bernthal’s reportedly amazing work with the character. Bernthal will appear as the Punisher in Daredevil‘s upcoming second season, which will arrive on March 18.

There better be a skull on that shirt

This is great news all around. Not only were Marvel and Netflix confident enough in Jessica Jones, but they’re so thrilled about Bernthal’s Punisher that they’re already talking spin-off. I’m excited to see the performance. A Punisher Netflix show is a no-brainer.

Plus Jessica Jones was damn good television, so I’m glad to see her coming back.

Also, for those interested, work is still underway for the Iron Fist show. I’ll have that casting announcement whenever it arrives.

Saturday Night Live Does Star Wars

Good times, good times, Adam Driver was the host of Saturday Night Live this past weekend, and they had some fun with Kylo Ren!

I don’t watch SNL anymore (not that I ever did watch it live…), but I love me some good Star Wars humor as much as the next fan!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/16/16

Hey there, hi there, ho there, comic book fans! We’re back with another batch of reviews, and this was another stellar week for comics! Both Marvel and DC are firing on all cylinders these days, and I couldn’t be happier!

New issues of The Mighty Thor and All-New Wolverine are real treats, and the conclusion of Robin War is pretty great. They nail the landing and leave a lot of excitement for stories to come.

But the real jewel this week was the teaser issue of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers from BOOM! Studios! I don’t normally care for licensed comics, but this one could be special. It definitely wins Comic Book of the Week.

This takes me back

This week also saw the release of the final issue of Secret Wars, which I’m not going to review, because it hasn’t been a regular feature here in Hench-Sized land. But I just wanted to say that the finale is great! I think it might be my favorite finale to any of Marvel’s Big Events. Secret Wars comes together so nicely, and with so much fun, that I wish beyond all wishes that this series had come out on schedule. It would have been even greater!

Anyway, on with the real reviews.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #4, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #0, Mighty Thor #3, Robin War #2 and Starfire #8.
