Who is Going to Be Picked Last for Civil War 2?

Marvel revealed a lot about their upcoming Civil War II event at the C2E2 comic book convention this weekend. There are going to be tie-ins, and more tie-ins, and kind of a lot of tie-ins. I’m not yet sold on this being any good. I really enjoyed Secret Wars, and I’m sure I’ll give Civil War II a read, but it definitely feels more like a marketing stunt than anything else. But we’ll see.

One of the things Marvel revealed was who would take whose side in the upcoming conflict. And that sounds like a good way to start a Monday to me!

Looks about right to me. I like the Ant-Man inclusion. And I wonder how Captain America feels about taking a backseat to Captain Marvel this time around, heh.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/19/16

This was another great week for comics! I am loving so many books these days. Most of them are Marvel, but I’m really trying to branch out into other comics. But those other comics are going to have to wait, because this week it’s all about great Marvel Comics!

For the first time ever, I’m splitting Comic Book of the Week between two issues: Power Man and Iron Fist #2 and Spider-Woman #5. Both were amazing comics, and both offered a new revelation to me: a lived in, casual Marvel Universe. Both comics tell a very down-to-Earth story about their characters and the hero and villain-populated city they live in, with gossip, friendships, dance clubs and more. Both issues were a true joy to read.

I’m loving the reasonable collars

David Walker and Sanford Greene’s Power Man and Iron Fist is already shaping up as the Comic Book of the Year, and we’re only two issues in.

Comic Reviews: Astonishing Ant-Man #6, Captain Marvel #3, Power Man and Iron Fist #2, Silk #6 and Spider-Woman #5.

Warcraft Just Keeps Looking Better and Cooler!

A new, shorter Warcraft trailer/TV spot has arrived online, and it’s pretty amazing. I especially like the opening scene.

That opening was just so gritty and cool. I loved it. Then there was a huge rush of awesomeness.

Except for that brief dwarf appearance midway through. That looked…that looked really CGIish. That’s a little disappointing. But the Warcraft movie could still be a highlight of the summer!

Daredevil Season 2 Arrives Today!

I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

As far as I’ve seen, all early reviews are very positive! It looks like the quality of Season 1 is going to carry over, and we’re all going to have a great time! Just gotta get through work first…

New X-Men Apocalypse Trailer Goes Epic

Did you know there’s a new X-Men movie out this year? Yeah, they’re tucking it down in there behind all the hype for Captain America: Civil War and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s called X-Men: Apocalypse, and they are really trying.

I’m probably being a bit harsh on this movie. Not sure why. The X-Men movies have always been fine. But this franchise feels played out. So many better and more nuanced superhero movies and franchises have come along. Do the X-Men really mean anything anymore? They haven’t had a consistent team lineup for several movies.

I dunno, I’m just griping. The trailer was pretty epic and exciting. I just don’t know if the franchise has any more gas in the tank.
