6 More of the Best and Worst Child Superhero Halloween Costumes

Halloween is here again and it’s time to have some fun, my friends! Every Halloween, I scour costume websites to find the best and worst superhero costumes available. In case you didn’t notice, superheroes are kind of a big deal these days, and they’re perfect for my favorite holiday!

Hooray for marketing!

Hooray for marketing!

This year we’re tackling kids costumes, because Halloween is supposed to be about kids, right? To some extent? When I was a wee little lad, I would have loved to have superhero costumes as detailed and as awesome as those available today. Kids have it pretty great. And there have been plenty of movies and cartoons to make costumes from.

So join me after the jump to see the best and worst superhero costumes for boys and girls this year! You can also check out my previous list of kids costumes from a couple years ago.

Cartoons and Movie Trailers Go Together Like Wolverine and Clawing Stuff

Today is a pretty idle Tuesday. So how about mashing up the first trailer for Logan with clips from the X-Men cartoons? Done!

Major props to Philysteak for putting this together. These are the people that make the Internet something truly special and fun.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/22/16

Comics! We love them! And some more of them came out this week. I read a bunch and wrote some reviews, that I hope you’ll enjoy. We’ve got Squirrel Girl, we’ve got Doctor Doom, we’ve got Zephyr and we’ve got the Porcupine, among others. A whole cornucopia of fun comics!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Astonishing Ant-Man #13, the final issue of this wonderful series. It’s not the highest rated comic this week, and it still kind of annoys me with how poorly writer Nick Spencer handles his courtroom scenes, but gorram does this creative team have a lot of fun with their final issue.

It's like reading a movie!

It’s like reading a movie!

Meanwhile, The Mighty Thor gave us the origin of Mjolnir! It’s really neat, but I decided to pass on reviewing the issue. Jason Aaron writes some great side stories.

Comic Reviews: Astonishing Ant-Man #13, Faith #4, Harley Quinn #6, Infamous Iron Man #1, Nightwing #7, Spider-Woman #12 and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #13.

I’m Just Going to Have to Make My Peace With This Big, Dumb Fire Cat Wrestler Thing

The final starter evolutions for Pokemon Sun and Moon have not yet been officially released, but the Internet is a wily beast, and some data-miners were able to pull the sprite files from the recently hacked demo. Behold, the final starter evolutions!

Worst. Starters. Ever.

Worst. Starters. Ever.

I don’t like any of them.

These final starters were released months ago in a “leak”, but for the longest time, I denied them. I hoped they were just another fan-made bit of nonsense. I denied their truth for so long! But now there’s no getting around it. These are our final starters. I’m going to have to pick one of them for Sun and/or Moon.

Ugh.

I wanted to go with Litten, the fire cat. He was the coolest looking of the starters. But his final evolution is super dumb and ugly. Another fire/fighting Pokemon? And a big humanoid pro wrestler? Didn’t we just have that with the pig not two generations ago?!

Personally, I prefer animalistic Pokemon. I don’t like humanoids. Which means I should probably pick the owl or the seal, but I don’t like either of them! The owl just looks too busy, and I don’t like the idea of a flying starter. And I like the seal in concept, but not in execution. That thing clearly belongs in the water. How am I supposed to picture the seal following my Pokemon around? She’ll just be flopping along after me. I don’t want to break my mental role play!

So it looks like it’s gonna be me and that big, dumb fire cat wrestler thing…

The New Trailer for the Third Wolverine Movie Has Me Wondering Why They’re Doing Old Man Logan

I have no idea what FOX plans to do with the X-Men franchise. The latest film, Apocalypse, landed with a big old dud this past summer. For some reason, they’ve been sticking to the same fractured and altered continuity all these years, including in their spin-off films. So what does the new film, Logan, have to do with any of that?

So despite everything that has come before, they’re now going to make a movie set in the future where older and more grizzled versions of Wolverine and Professor X team up to save a little girl from the Reavers? I’m sure they’ll try to get a good movie out of that, and perhaps they’ll succeed, but now that I’m actually watching the trailer, I think it’s a weird choice.

The trailer is alright. The film looks gritty enough. And that Johnny Cash cover is one of my favorite songs of all time, and definitely fits the theme. But I dunno. I’m just not sure where they’re going with this…
