Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/19/24
Here we are in the middle of October and nothing to show for it but some comic book reviews. Oh well. This week sees the first issue of Mystique and the last issue of Tom Taylor’s Nightwing, among other things.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #14 because I feel like this comic is on a whole different level and it’s not fair to the other comics I’m reviewing.
Meanwhile, I beat Star Wars: Outlaws, and I posted my review/thoughts this past week. The game won’t be missed. In the aftermath, I’ve started getting back into Baldur’s Gate 3. A lot of clean-up patches have come out since I last played a year ago (finally saw the epilogues!) and I’ve decided to maybe finish off a character I dropped and start a new one with a friend. Should be fun.
Comic Reviews: Mystique #1, Nightwing #118, Ultimate Spider-Man #10 and Wonder Woman #14.

Finally, at long last, the LEGO X-Mansion set has been officially revealed. It has been rumored for the past year, and I’ve already seen all these pictures because they were leaked over the past week. But it’s official now. It’s up on the LEGO website. We can check this baby out in all its glory!
If I’m being totally honest, I don’t think it’s great. I don’t usually like building sets from LEGO. I’m more of a vehicles guy. But this X-Mansion appears to be based directly on the one from the Animated Series, so I’m a little more open to it. I guess I just thought it would be grander somehow…but I do like that Sentinel. Nice addition.
The mini-figures are OK. I like the inclusion of Iceman, despite him not being a part of the cartoon (yet). I haven’t bought any other X-Men sets, so none of these will be repeats for me…though they are missing the Beast that was included in those blind packs last year. I’ll have to pick him up separately.
Honestly, I dig it and I bet it will grow on me. And hopefully it’s the start of many more X-Men sets to come.
The LEGO X-Mansion will release on Nov. 4. I have a LEGO store near me, so I might go camp out and try to get it on Day One…except now I’m seeing that it’s a Monday. Dang. May have to wait until the weekend. We’ll see. At the very least, it’s finally revealed, we can all look at that beautiful thing. And we can all hope and imagine we get many more X-Men figures and sets in the future!

Some New Wallace & Gromit on This Lovely Thursday
There’s a new Wallace & Gromit movie coming early next year! It’s been nearly 20 years since the last one, so huzzahs all around! Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is coming to Netflix!
Looks fun to me! And looks like a nice way to start this lovely Thursday. Why is it lovely? I don’t know. It just is. And a little lazy. So let us revel and just cherish in a new trailer for Wallace & Gromit stuff. Looks funny. Looks same as always. Looks like exactly what we want.
Vengeance Most Fowl comes to Netflix on Jan. 3.

6 Things I Want to See in a Star Wars: Outlaws Sequel
We’re probably not going to get a Star Wars: Outlaws sequel. The game has reportedly underperformed, and Ubisoft is having all sorts of problems. The whole AAA gaming industry is having all sorts of problems, but I’m not here to talk about that. I finally got around to beating Outlaws this past weekend, so I’m here to just ramble about my thoughts on the game, while daydreaming about what a sequel might hold.
Video Game Rating: 7/10 – Good
I liked Star Wars: Outlaws, for the most part. The game delivered pretty much what I expected it to deliver, and it delivered it well enough for my liking. Granted, I’m not hard to impress. It’s not Grand Theft Auto: Star Wars, but then it never promised to be. It’s a solid 7/10 game set in the Star Wars universe, providing a different style of game from the Star Wars Jedi series. I bought the game for full price on launch day because I really needed a new and fun game at the time. But I would definitely recommend waiting for Star Wars: Outlaws to be heavily discounted on Black Friday before you buy and try it out.
Join me after the jump for my thoughts on the game and what I’d like to see in a sequel.
Read the rest of this entryTV Trailer Tuesday!
A good question exists of why I share which trailers I do. Why some trailers but not all trailers? The answers is that I really just share trailers of projects that interest me. I’ve loved watching trailers since the days of Coming Attractions on the E! Network when I was a kid. Here are some trailers I’ve been sitting on over the past few days and am just dropping them now for funsies!
First up is the trailer for the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks! I love this show. It’s my Star Trek. And it’s a damn shame this is the final season. We need so much more! This season looks great.
Can’t wait to watch. Love the Beckett/Jennifer stuff. Have no idea what else might happen. Anything could happen! I hope they go huge for the final season!
The last season of Lower Decks comes to Paramount+ starting Oct. 24.
Next up is the new Netflix cartoon Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. This started last Thursday, but I haven’t watched it yet. I’ll get around to it one of these days.
Looks pretty straight forward to me. Lara Croft should be an easy character to adapt, so it’s weird that the movie franchise didn’t really take off. Hopefully this cartoon can reveal how it’s easy and awesome to make a show about a badass exploration hero exploring tombs and fighting bad guys and monsters.
Then we’ve got a new show called Hysteria, which looks pretty neat.
Looks like a fun premise, lots of cheeky humor and I think I’ll definitely try to find a watch somewhere along the way. Or maybe it’ll be one of those shows that comes and goes and nobody remembers it even existed. Who can tell? I’ll probably give it aw atch.
Hysteria comes to Peacock on Oct. 18, so at the end of this week.
Lastly is the first trailer for the second season of Silo on AppleTV+. DO NOT WATCH THIS TRAILER unless you’ve already seen season 1, because it’s full of SPOILERS.
Looks great to me! I really enjoyed the first season, and I can’t wait to see where they go with season 2. This trailer gives us some pretty fun hints and I can’t wait to see them play out!
Silo season 2 comes to AppleTV+ on Nov. 15.
