Nobody Has to Die in Avengers: Infinity War
All anybody seems to want to talk about with regards to Avengers: Infinity War is which characters are going to die. But I say: why does anybody have to die? Why does predictable death equal stakes in movies and TV shows? Why can’t moviemakers up the stakes some other way than killing a beloved character?
Death in comics is pretty much dead. It doesn’t matter anymore. Popular characters return after a couple of years with big fanfare, and obscure characters are brought back just as frequently, with little to no warning or notice. Likewise, having a major character die in the next Big Event is equally overused at this point. It’s become like checking a box on your Big Event list.
So why do we want to transfer that feeling over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Why do we need a tragic death? Will anybody actually be sad at the death? Will it be anything other than shock value?
Why is death the be-all and end-all of raising the stakes in a movie? And why is everybody so eager for one of the Avengers to die in a movie?
I don’t think any of the main characters should die. I will be perfectly entertained if everybody survives and gets to retire to nice lives, with the possibility of returning in future movies. Let’s have some fun with this stuff, eh?

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/13/18
It’s that time of year again! I’ve got another cold! If I were a better adult, I’d figure out what might be the root cause of the cold and make better preparations to stop it. But eh, that sounds like a lot of work. I’ll just keep popping cold medicine.
In better news, we’ve got a ton of nifty comics this week! Some of my favorite non-cancelled comics are in this week, like Ms. Marvel and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl! We’ve also got another super cool issue of Mister Miracle. But I’m going to award Comic Book of the Week to the final issue of the Conner/Palmiotti Harley Quinn, even though I don’t think it’s as strong of a finale as it could have been.
Still, I have greatly enjoyed their entire Harley Quinn run, and this is coming from a comic fan who never particularly cared about Harley. I never read her comic until this pair launched her new series during the New 52, and whatever the haters may say, this is always going to be my Harley! Here’s hoping the new team can keep the quality going.
All the best, Amanda and Jimmy!
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #972, Harley Quinn #34, Mister Miracle #6, Ms. Marvel #26, Runaways #5 and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #28.
Destiny Has Told Me to Share This Animated History of Jason
So, weird coincidence. I never watched any of the classic horror films from the 1980s while I was growing up. We just didn’t watch those kinds of movies in my family. So I’ve never seen a single Friday the 13th movie. Not even the modern reboots. I don’t particularly care about Jason.
But I’ve been randomly watching some Let’s Play videos of the latest Friday the 13th video game, which prompted me, just the other day, to read a big wikipedia entry on the life and times of Jason, just out of pure wiki-curiosity. We’ve all been there.
Then I discovered this brand new animated history of Jason that literally just came out, and is only the second video from a new YouTube creator!
This is kismet. I had no idea this video was coming from Tell It Animated. And my wiki-wormhole on Jason was just as random. But hey, when the Internet is telling me to share a cool animated YouTube video with you, you’re damn right I’m going to share it!

The Tick is Coming Back Soon!
The new Tick TV show is returning to Amazon soon with the second half of its first season! It’s a great show, so I wanted to remind everybody to watch! And this great show has a nifty new trailer.
The show returns on Feb. 23. You should definitely have the Amazon TV stuff, because you can also watch the amazing Man in the High Castle. But The Tick is awesome, too!

There’s Going to Be a Teen Titans Go! Movie!
I love Teen Titans Go! I might be one of those few geeks that like this show more than the original. Teen Titans Go! is hilarious! I don’t know what sort of insanity they’re going to do for a full movie, but I am totally on board.
Gonna see this one in the theaters! And then we’re also supposed to get a live action Teen Titans TV show later this year, as well as the new season of Young Justice. There is so much Robin-based entertainment coming to me this year!
