Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/3/19
Comics, Comics, Comics! Comics, Comics, Comics! Let’s all read some comics! Some pretty good ones this week!
We’ve got more Captain America and Fantastic Four! We’ve got the bold first issue of Powers of X! And we’ve got the Comic Book of the Week, a wonderfully drama-filled issue of Runaways!
Meanwhile, I got a request from writer Scott Snyder to check out his Last Knight on Earth and Batman Who Laughs issues this week. Expect the review of the first, but I haven’t been following Batman Who Laughs, and wasn’t going to buy and cram in seven whole issues this week. But any professional comic writers who want another review of their comics, feel free to reach out and let me know!
What would you henchies think about me reviewing indie and amateur comics? Being a self-published comic writer myself, I want to help my fellow writers, but I can be really, really lazy. Would you readers like to see some amateur comic reviews on my blog? Let me know!
Comic Reviews: Batman – Last Knight on Earth #2, Captain America #12, Fantastic Four #12, Powers of X #1 and Runaways #23.
Here’s Another Look At The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds is probably my most anticipated game for the rest of the year. And here’s a random video with the senior producer, Matthew Singh. He’s announced that the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, but he also provides some more story content!
I can’t wait to sink my teeth into another rich role-playing game. I’m still puttering in Red Dead Redemption Online and could use the break.

A New Zombie Movie That Looks Pretty Fun!
New zombie movies and TV shows are a dime a dozen, but a new trailer arrived yesterday that looks pretty fun! It’s Little Monsters, starring Lupita Nyong’o as a school teacher trying to lead her kindergarten children safely through a zombie breakout.
This looks like a whole lot of fun! So I think I’ll get my hopes up. Perhaps we’ll even get a good Josh Gad performance.
Little Monsters comes out on Nov. 15.

The 6 Best Spider-Man Villains Not Yet in the Movies
It tickles me pink that Sony and Marvel have not yet repeated the main villain across seven live action Spider-Man movies, despite three different series. As easy as it would have been to just do Doctor Octopus over again, the Amazing Spider-Man and MCU films continued to dig deep into Spidey’s Rogues Gallery to find new live action villains.
Granted, the Amazing films got a little weird with their own Harry Osborn Green Goblin, but he wasn’t the main villain of his film so I’m not counting him. We’ve had Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, Rhino, Vulture, Shocker and now Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Who else is left? Which villains are there to use in whatever Far From Home sequel we get down the line?
I’m glad you asked! Join me after the jump for the best Spider-Man villains who have yet to appear in live action films.
Some Boss Movie Trailers to Start the Week
It’s Monday. Same as always. So how about we ease the trouble with some nifty movie trailers? I love movie trailers. I used to watch Coming Attractions on the E! Network as a kid.
First up is JoJo Rabbit, the next original film from Taika Waititi!
That looks amazing. I’m definitely excited for that one, with Waititi knocking it out of the park lately. The dude has reached the zenith! JoJo Rabbit comes out on Oct. 18.
Next up is Zombieland: Double Tap, the sequel to the original.
This could be fun, and probably will be. They had a shot at a TV show at one point. But the trailer looks wild, so here’s hoping Zombieland 2 is good stuff! This one is due out…also on Oct. 18! Oh man! how can we be expected to choose?!
