Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/10/25

Do the weeks seem longer to anybody else? I know I’m working a lot, but damn, the weekend seems to take forever. Anyway, new comics, good stuff all around, like X-Men and Spider-Man.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #7 for an awesome new origin for Brainiac.

Verklempt

Meanwhile, The Museum of the Uncanny Kickstarter was a success! So I will have a new short comic story entering the world sometime soon. Hopefully you all ordered your copy and will get to read it! Beyond that, I’m loving Andor, Doctor Who and The Last of Us, obviously, and continue to slowly make my way through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Fun game.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Green Lantern #2, Absolute Superman #7, Amazing Spider-Man #3 and X-Men #16.

6 Thoughts on Thunderbolts* (Review)

The second of three Marvel movies hit the big screen this past weekend and I was right there opening night, like the good old days! I was very excited for Thunderbolts* and I’m very happy to say that it mostly lived up to my expectations. Part of me wanted more from the movie, but only in the sense that it was already good and I just wanted more of it to enjoy.

Movie Rating: 8/10 – Very Good

I will admit that Thunderbolts* was not the rip-roaring good time I was hoping for, and that’s OK. This was a darker, more somber movie, while still having bits of fun and great action. It’s not the second coming of the Avengers — despite the title/marketing change. I still had fun with this one, and I bet it’s going to grow on me over time. I really want to go back and see it in the theaters for a second time.

Join me after the jump for my full thoughts/review of Thunderbolts*. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole movie, so read at your own peril. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments below.

Last Chance to Order Museum of the Uncanny!

Good news, everybody! The comic Kickstarter I’m currently a part of has hit its goal and will get published! The Museum of the Uncanny is a spooky comic anthology full of short stories about unique and creepy objects, written by a diverse team of up-and-coming comic creators from around the world! And I just happen to also have a story in the book!

Today is the last chance to order your copy. The book is happening, it will get published, the goal has been reached. Now we’re just raising additional money to try to squeeze a few extra stories into each one, so more bang for everybody’s buck!

If you were waiting for the last minute to order this book, that time is upon us. The campaign ends tomorrow morning and then production will wrap up and we’ll get the book to the printer and then out to everybody who ordered a copy.

My story is called “The Normal Quesadilla Maker That Definitely Can’t Talk,” which is about an ordinary, everyday quesadilla maker. I promise.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for awesome, spooky stories you can get at The Museum of the Uncanny!

New Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer to Ease the Pain

Announced only a few days ago, Grand Theft Auto VI will no longer be coming out this year. The entire rest of my 2025 was being planned around that game release. But now it won’t be out for a fully year, next May. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day was ruined.

To ease the pain, Rockstar shadow-dropped a brand new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer today, only our second look at this expansive game.

I don’t even know where to begin. None of that looked like in-game footage…but what if it is?! We expect nothing but the best from Rockstar, and they’ve been working on this game for nearly a decade. Maybe they will deliver graphics that good! The voice acting and characters look great. Recognized a lot of familiar voices, which is a hoot. The location looks so detailed and with such depth. The characters seem so cool.

It all just looks so real and wonderful. Which I guess will have to sustain us.

You can get some more info on the game at this link to Rockstar’s homepage.

This Fun Little Warcraft Fanimation

In my various internet travels, I always stumble upon random stuff here and there. And I like to share it. Because you good readers deserve to see good stuff as well. And that brings us to this fun little, fan made, stop motion Warcraft animation. I still love Warcraft, even if I haven’t played WoW in a very long time.

Huzzah and kudos all around! Fun little animation, very well done. Kudos to Justin Rasch for his work, as well as his whole team. I hope it’s fun to make videos like this.

Anyway, I’m going to see Thunderbolts* tonight and can’t wait!
