Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is Just Going For It!

I wasn’t much of a fan of the first live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie. I suppose it was fine, but it also largely just nestled up against a bunch of “live action cartoon adaptation” tropes. Just wasn’t for me. But now the sequel is on the way, and it’s got Tails and Knuckles, so I’m in!

Knuckles is one of my all-time favorite video game characters, and he looks awesome in this trailer! Voiced by Idris Elba and getting one really amazing line, Knuckles is gonna steal the show, baby! This trailer looks like Sonic 2 is ready and willing to go whole-hog into the lore and the characters. I can get behind that sort of madness.

Tails is also cool.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives in theaters on April 8.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/11/21

By this time next week, I will have seen Spider-Man: No Way Home and none of the spoilers will haunt me anymore! The wait is getting pretty unbearable! But thankfully, we’ve got some fun comics like Power Rangers, Batman and Inferno to keep us occupied.

Comic Book of the Week goes to One-Star Squadron #1 for a fun little debut issue. Also, sometimes I just need to give Power Rangers a break from winning all the time.

Minute Man exists

Meanwhile, I finished Arcane on Netflix and it is phenomenal! Highly recommended! Possibly my show of the year. Arcane is what every video game adaptation wishes it could be. They take the characters and settings of League of Legends and actually build a really great story, juggling multiple characters, multiple arcs, multiple great moments, while still remaining true to the characters. The visuals are also out of this world.

Comic Reviews: Batman #118, Dark Knights of Steel #2, Inferno #3, Mighty Morphin #14 and One-Star Squadron #1.

Let’s Mock Venom: Let There Be Carnage a Little Bit

Now is a good time to poke some fun at Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Remember that movie? Came out a little while ago? It came out long enough ago that the internet’s various movie mocksters have gone ahead and produced their YouTube videos. And they make for nice easy shares on this random Thursday.

For example, how about an Honest Trailer?

Always a treat. Leave it to those nice people to take a movie down a few notches.

And then we’ve got How Venom: Let There Be Carnage Should Have Ended.

It’s a good, enjoyable way to use the internet. And soon Venom: Let There Be Carnage will fade into forgotten media…until Venom shows up in Spider-Man: No Way Home next week.

At this point, anything is possible.

6 Things I Want to See in the Shang-Chi Sequel

Marvel Studios officially announced a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings this week after signing director Destin Daniel Cretton to a new contract. That’s great news! Shang-Chi was an awesome flick and there is a ton of sequel potential. Simu Liu, Awkwafina and the whole enterprise are ripe for becoming a new corner stone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am here for it.

Don’t look so down, a sequel is coming

So what’s a sequel going to feature? Shang-Chi has almost zero comic book lore to draw from. Marvel has tried again and again to give him some stories, some background and some anything, but none of it has ever really cracked the comic book consciousness. And The Legend of the Ten Rings came up with a lot of its own original mythology and lore anyway. So the canvas is wide open to come up with plenty of ideas and directions. That’s great and all, but a comic book dork like me knows a lot of Marvel stuff to draw from for a sequel!

Join me after the jump for new ideas, concepts, characters and developments I want to see in the Shang-Chi sequel! And feel free to share your own ideas in the comments below!

The Next X-Men Shake’Em-Up Is Right Around the Corner!

X-Men comics are always evolving. This obviously makes perfect sense. And their next minor evolution is right around the corner. Thankfully, they’re staying on Krakoa for now. There’s just gonna be a whole wave of new comics, under the banner of Destiny of X.

First of all, no signs of Multiple Man or Mimic or even Strong Guy, so my excitement is slightly tempered. Still, there are a ton of new comics, so maybe my favorite X-Characters will get to show up somewhere.

Second of all, I’m fine with all of this. I love the Krakoa era and I absolutely want it to continue. I look forward to trying out each and every one of these new titles and I’m hoping for the best! I will try to share more info once it gets released.

And, again, if one of my personal favorites shows up, you best believe I’m gonna write about it!
