Celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

I’m going to go see Thor: Love and Thunder in a couple of hours, so how about I post a bunch of those internet parody videos for the last Marvel film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Seems like the sort of day to celebrate and enjoy the MCU!

Like how about the Honest Trailer?

And we can’t forget the How It Should Have Ended.

These things are everywhere! Like even the Pitch Meeting!

It’s a whole cottage industry to make silly YouTube videos about popular movies. In a couple of weeks/months, we’ll have the videos for Thor: Love and Thunder! I hope it’s good! I’ll have my full review/thoughts on the film next Wednesday!

How Far is the Paper Girls TV Show Gonna Go?

Paper Dolls is becoming a TV show on Amazon Prime later this month! It’s a really cool comic, but it’s also a really wild and weird comic. Writer Brian K. Vaughn and artist Cliff Chiang go balls to the wall in terms of crazy time travel and sci-fi shenanigans.

Will the show be able to match that stuff?

We had a teaser trailer last week, and this full trailer doesn’t fill me with too much confidence. It grounds the whole thing in the part where young Erin meets adult Erin, because that’s understandable. But that stuff is only a small part of the madness to come. Will we get that madness? Are they saving it for a season 2, in the hopes that they get a season 2? I guess we’ll find out! But this first full trailer plays things a little too safe for my tastes.

Paper Girls arrives on Amazon Prime on July 29!

6 Best Hammers in Pop Culture

What are you the god of again? Was it hammers? Let’s hope so, because I’m doing a List of Six about famous hammers in pop culture in honor of Thor: Love and Thunder! I am super excited to see the the film this weekend, and this was the best, funnest idea I could come up with that wasn’t just gushing about Beta Ray Bill.

Thor: Love and Thunder

I thought about doing a list of alternate versions of Thor in pop culture. There are a bunch of those and they’re always fun. Or maybe a list about alternate people who have lifted Thor’s magic hammer, Mjolnir? Those are also fun, and would allow me to include Beta Ray Bill. I also could have done a List of Six about all the reasons that Beta Ray Bill should join the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Who wouldn’t love that? But nah. I settled on something simple and fun about pop culture hammers.

Join me after the jump for a bunch of cool, hammer-wielding legends!

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is Going to Be a Thing!

There’s going to be a Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur cartoon! Neat! Apparently Lawrence Fishburne is producing, which bully for him. He decided to give us a first look at some of the animation last week.

I never read the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur cartoon, so I don’t know what to expect. But I’m all for new Marvel projects! Especially if it’s going to be a cool, stand alone piece with a lot of creativity put into it. The show is coming to the Disney Channel next year. Let’s hope it’s good!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/2/22

Welcome, everyone, to another week of comic book reviews from this random blog you’ve maybe stumbled upon. Or maybe you’ve been reading for a while? My only hope is that somebody is reading so that people know my thoughts on the likes of She-Hulk and The X-Cellent.

Comic Book of the Week goes to The Variants #1 for a nice start to a new Jessica Jones comic, but comic superstars Gail Simone and Phil Noto.

Superhero life

Meanwhile, I just finished Dickinson and very much enjoyed that show. I’m still working my way through AppleTV+ shows. Maybe For All Mankind next? Video game wise, I beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and had a blast with it. Now I need something new to play…

Comic Reviews: She-Hulk #4, The Variants #1, The X-Cellent #4 and X-Men Red #4.
