Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/8/22
What a week! What a week! Daredevil shows up in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law! Werewolf By Night debuts for the MCU! New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer! Life is good for us comic book geeks! Made even better by some excellent comics, like Ant-Man and Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #128 because I am a sucker for good Batman and Robin writing, and a sucker for amazing, action-packed comics!
Meanwhile, that Daredevil episode was definitely the best episode of She-Hulk yet! And we’ve seen so little from the finale that I have no idea what’s coming next! Should be great! The whole show has been perfect! And I started playing TemTem because I needed something to play, and it’s pretty fun, if low key, so far. I’m also on the hunt for a Playstation 5 ahead of some upcoming games. Wish me luck!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #4, Batman #128, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #5.

The first teaser trailer for the big budget, animated Super Mario Bros. movie arrived on the internet yesterday and it looks phenomenal. I love almost every visual this movie has to offer. But watch out for Chris Pratt’s weird accent for Mario…
I just sounds so bad. I think I’d prefer if he was just his normal Chris Pratt voice instead of whatever weird little slight accent he’s trying to give it. So bad! Also, clearly Mario looks like Fix-It Felix, right? It’s in the eyes. Those aren’t Mario’s eyes. Those are standard animated movie eyes.
Anyway, looking past the weird Mario choices, the rest of this trailer is gorgeous. The slow, serious build-up to a truly powerful Bowser is a great choice! I love the balance between serious and some comedy. I’m so glad to see this isn’t some slapstick nonsense. It looks awesome!
It just sounds weird. But we’ll find out for sure how the voicework works when it comes to theaters next year!

How About a Big, Long Look at Pokemon Violent and Scarlet?
Pokemon Violet and Scarlet are a month away, which means we might as well take a big, long, new look at the game in this extended preview video! Even though I have given in and started playing TemTem, I am definitely still looking forward to Pokemon Violet next month!
All of this still looks pretty great to me! I hope the big, open world doesn’t feel too barren. I’m looking forward to the character designer, as always. The new pokemon all look fine, though the red motorcycle one still looks super dumb while it’s running. That solidified my getting Violet, because at least the purple motorcycle one uses its wheels.
Picnics seem like a natural evolution of the various play-with-the-pokemon stuff they’ve had in past games, so that’s fine. Crafting TMs sounds neat. Crafting sandwiches? Alright, whatever! Adding a photography mode is smart. Pokemon Snap is a great game series. They should have ported in a lot more Snap features, like getting photos rated or something.
I like the look of all of this. Pokemon Violet is a Day 1 buy for me next month, on Nov. 18!

6 Things I Want to See in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
A cool new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrived this week and it got me thinking about what I want to see in the sequel. We already know the story and most of the new main characters. We know a general course for the film to take. But a man like me, a dorky internet blogger, can still have some hopes and dreams for this awesome, upcoming sequel.
Anything can happy in Wakanda Forever. The movie is nearly three hours long, coming in as the second longest MCU movie. I am here for that. I do not mind long movies, and if that’s the length they wanted, give it to them. I trust Ryan Coogler and his team completely in honoring Chadwick Boseman and telling a great story that moves the Black Panther franchise forward. I’m firmly behind the idea of not recasting T’Challa. They could have recast, but that actor would have stepped into such big shoes. Instead, I’m excited to watch the excellent supporting cast step up and embrace the legacy.
We already know a lot of about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but join me after the jump anyway for certain specific things I hope to see in the upcoming sequel.

This was a surprise, and a welcome one! A new, full trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrived on our internet today and it’s a pretty solid trailer. Not as magical as that music-heavy first trailer, but still pretty solid in terms of showing off the show.
I think Atlantis vs. Wakanda is a great premise/story for the sequel. It keeps things in the realm of kings and kingdoms, and is a pretty big story in its own right. We get confirmation of Ironheart suiting up in the movie — which was probably a given — and many more guesses can be made at the identity of the new, female Black Panther. My money is on Shuri…but it’s also on Shuri starting out in the role, but Nakia getting it by the end. But we’ll see. I have no real clue. Movie looks great!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters a month from now on Nov. 11.
