TV Trailer Monday Doesn’t Have the Same Ring

It’s Monday again, like always. And I’ve got to fill the void with something. Last Monday, I have movie trailers, and Movie Trailer Monday had some good alliteration. But TV Trailer Monday doesn’t have the same ring to it. What’s up with that? What kind of clown show am I running here?

But hey, how about a trailer for the fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!

I really like this show and I’m very excited for the final season. The fourth season was an interesting one, and it ended on a really strong note. And I think the promise is there to go out in a really special way. At least I hope so. Trailer looks OK, at least. The final season comes to Amazon Prime on April 14.

Next up is the trailer for the second season of Sweet Tooth on Netflix. I enjoyed the first season and am definitely looking forward to a second.

Is it the final season? Considering how Netflix runs, probably. Hopefully it ends well too, when it’s suddenly cancelled between seasons. A cliffhanger would be a real bummer. But the action looks good, the stakes look raised, and everything seems quality to me. So my hopes are up.

Sweet Tooth returns on April 27.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/25/23

Who loves comics? I love comics! And some of my favorites came out this week. It’s always an enjoyable time when I get to read Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Nightwing in the same week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman #2 for an excellent entry, making this series two-for-two so far for me. Joshua Williamson and his creative team are knocking this one out of the park in terms of story, character and especially some gorgeous artwork.

No sir, I am perfectly reasonable

Meanwhile, I finally beat Midnight Suns and I can definitely say it was a good game. A ton of work went into that thing to really flesh out all its Marvel superheroes, and I would definitely look forward to a sequel. I also saw John Wick: Chapter 4 and was disappointed. These endless action scenes are diminishing returns for me in this series. I’m also watching the second season of Carnival Row. So at least somebody is, right?

Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #106, Nightwing #102, Superman #2 and The Wasp #3.

I Don’t Know If I Can Handle Old School Power Rangers

I was a major fan of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when I was a kid in the 1990s. They were my jam! And I’m a huge fan of the Power Rangers comics from BOOM! Studios. But can I handle this old school reunion movie? It looks a bit too cheesy for me…even though I know it’s always been cheesy.

Man, I just don’t know. It’s so campy. But the show was campy. But I’m not a kid anymore! Will I be able to stand it or will it be like nails on a chalkboard? It’s fun to see the actors back, even if not everyone could show up. RIP Jason David Frank. But hey, it’s on Netflix, it should be worth a watch.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always comes to Netflix on April 19.

Check Out the First Ever Live Action Tim Drake Robin

I stopped watching Titans at least one season ago. It just wasn’t very good anymore. It was a live action superhero show that was taking us through the life cycle of the Robins, and I just couldn’t watch anymore. But I keep track, and I know they had a live action Tim Drake in the latest season.

And in the upcoming season, he’s going to become Robin! Check out his suit. That’s actor Jay Lycurgo.

I like it! And I’m always pleased to see another fine example that a Robin costume can work in modern, live action designs. It looks cool, it looks detailed, and it looks like Robin. Unfortunately, from what I understand, there’s no Batman anymore in Titans, so this Tim becomes Robin without Batman. That kinda stinks. But again, I’m not watching, so who am I to judge? I can just sit back and admire a cool Robin costume design.

6 Thoughts on Shazam! Fury of the Gods

If you haven’t seen the news yet, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has bombed at the box office. That’s a shame. I am not someone who heralds the death of superhero movies at the theaters. I want all of these movies to be successful, to turn into popular franchises. But I’m not heartbroken. The DCEU itself is broken, and it’s not a surprise that audiences don’t care anymore. The only real question is whether or not they will care when James Gunn reboots everything in a couple of years.

Movie Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good

I really enjoyed the first Shazam! I thought it was funny, charming and full of entertaining energy. All the good things about fun superhero movies. I liked the Shazamily, which was something unique to this franchise. And now this sequel comes along with pretty much everybody coming back. Should have been another success! But something went wrong somewhere along the way. Was it a bad script? Were there some behind-the-scenes changes that screwed things over? I don’t know. All I know is that, while they made a fairly entertaining new movie, it’s ultimately going to be a flop.

Join me after the jump for my thoughts on Shazam! Fury of the Gods! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the movie. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments down below.
