The New Ghostbusters are Getting LEGOs Too!

No sooner do I finally get my hands on the Ghostbusters LEGOs then a new Ecto-1 set is announced for the new Ghostbusters movie. Man, what’s single, childless adult man with disposable income supposed to do? This is, honestly, almost the exact same set.

And I still want it! Look at the detail, look at the characters, look at the new Ecto-1! It’s gorgeous!

You’ll also notice that they added Chris Hemsworth’s character to the set, whereas Annie Potts wasn’t in the original Ghostbusters’ set. Hmmm. Still, the whole thing looks great! And you can see some more pics and some close-ups here.

6 More Characters That Need Action Figures (So I Can Also Buy Them)

We all have hobbies. We all have vices and guilty pleasures. For me, it’s collecting action figures. I’m not one of those collectors who wants them kept in the box, or someone who hunts down every single variant and buys 10 of them. I’m a casual action figure collector, picking up the characters I like when I happen to find them.

The psycho part is when I put them on display in my apartment…

The ladies love action figures

Most recently, I finally got my hands on this Hobgoblin Build-a-Figure I’d been longing for all last year. This figure could have been a travesty, because as a Build-a-Figure, I would have had to buy six separate action figures at $20 a pop to get all the pieces! That’s insane! Fortunately, I found him for cheap on eBay, and all is right with the world.

It put me in the mood to talk about action figures, which is a List of Six I’ve already done once before. But if I could somehow control the action figure market, what other characters do I want to see sculpted and on my shelf?

How Do We Make This Action Figure a Reality?

For awhile now, comic books have been featuring these action figure-style variant covers. I don’t buy variant covers, so for the most part, I just looked at these and smiled, waxing nostalgic, as is their purpose. Until today. The action figure variant for the new Deadpool spin-off comic, Mercs for Money, was unveiled and I absolutely must own this Stingray action figure.

The stuff dreams are made of

You do not understand the lengths I would go to to own such a sweet Stingray action figure. The new costume looks amazing, and I don’t even care that he’s Deadpool-themed. Whatever! Stingray is getting more exposure! If the greater world reads even one of my blog posts this year, let it be this one, and Marvel make this action figure!

Granted, they’ve yet to listen to my pleas about a Multiple Man action figure, but whatever. A guy can dream.

My 6 Favorite Things of 2015

And so we bid goodbye to another year. Overall, I think 2015 was good to me. I went to England, the first time I’ve been out of the country. I had a successful Kickstarter and self-published my first comic book, Gamer Girl & Vixen. I bought a new high-end computer. I got two new winter coats. Life is pretty good, all things considered.

So let’s engage in that great Internet tradition of counting down all the best pop culture of the year!

It was a year

What was my favorite movie of the year? My favorite comic book or TV show? Did I buy any good action figures this year? I know for a fact that I didn’t hear any new or interesting music in 2015, because I’m a square. But we definitely had a lot of fun stuff! From Age of Ultron to The Force Awakens, what did 2015 have in store?

And please share your own favorites in the comments!

I Assume My Co-Workers Spent Their Holiday Bonus on Something More Practical

My company handed out the annual Holiday/Christmas bonus last week, and I kind of went a little overboard with mine. I assume my co-workers were probably more responsible with the money…but not me.

Booyah!

This was why I had such a good day on Wednesday. This is the ultimate holiday splurge. I feel like a kid in a toy store…which is literally what happened.

Recently, my office has been handing out Christmas bonuses as pre-paid, universal gift cards. The responsible, adult thing to do would be to maybe spend that money on groceries or bills. But for the first time in a few years, I’m not flat broke at Christmas, so I’m not clutching at a Christmas bonus like some desperate lifesaver.

So boom, free money! Retail therapy!

I went to Toys R Us looking for a big, expansive LEGO set. I’ve never had a big, expansive LEGO set. I kind of imagine that they’re awesome. But there just weren’t many good ones available. Maybe the new Force Awakens Millennium Falcon, or the Star Destroyer, but both of those were actually more than my Christmas bonus.

When it comes to LEGOs, I prefer vehicle models over playsets. Give me the Batmobile over the Batcave any day. Vehicles are one, solid, clear object. Playsets are whatever the LEGO designers feel like designing.

So there I was, scouring the LEGO wall at Toys R Us, and two of the greatest recent models jump out at me. I don’t know when I’ll get around to building them, but it’s going to be a blast. Sometimes I love being a geek.
