Season 2 TV Trailer Thursday!

I don’t know about you, but there’s so much new TV coming out that I’m losing track. There’s a fourth season of The Bear to watch. A new season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia just started up. And there are more new shows and new seasons coming right around the corner! In fact, I’ve got trailers for two shows I’m looking forward to watching.

First up is a proper trailer for the second season of Wednesday. I enjoyed the first season well enough.

Looks solid. Looks to have a good plot. I hope that monster boy returns. He was my favorite character in the first season. And you know who I want to see? Joel Glicker, the nerdy kid Wednesday hooked up with in Addams Family Values, played by David Krumholtz. This is a show that’s more than willing to play the nostalgia card, and he’s some kind of canon to Addams lore. Why not have that character show up in the new show? Wednesday needs to love interests!

The first half of Wednesday will come out on Aug. 6, and the second half will come out on Sept. 3, because Netflix still can’t pull the trigger on weekly releases.

Next up is a full trailer for the second season of Twisted Metal! The first season was a hoot and a half, and I can’t wait for more!

The first season of Twisted Metal was better than it had any right to be. They made a damn fun show based around the classic video game series, and it looks like season two is actually going to feature the vehicle combat battles! And it’s got Axel! We can see him in the trailer! How exciting.

Twisted Metal will come to Peacock starting on July 31.

Eyes of Wakanda Looks Pretty Neat

Marvel has a new animated show coming out soon called Eyes of Wakanda, and we got our first teaser look last week with the end of Ironheart (which I enjoyed). And we only really get a glimpse of the animation style at this point, and that’s what looks pretty neat.

As always, I remain a staunch Marvel and MCU supporter, so I’ll definitely be giving Eyes of Wakanda a watch. I don’t think we saw any Black Panthers in that teaser, so I don’t really know what the show is actually going to be about. But a fun animated show is a fun animated show, and I’ve got nothing better to do than watch.

Eyes of Wakanda comes to Disney+ on Aug. 27.

Ironheart is Only Two Weeks Away!

Ironheart is the next Marvel TV show on Disney+ and it comes out on June 24 — which is only two weeks away! I’m relatively excited. Nobody in the greater internet seems to have any faith in this show, but such was also the case with Agatha All Along and that was great! So I’m definitely keeping my expectations level for Ironheart.

Looks fine to me. I liked Wakanda Forever because I like pretty much all these Marvel Studios projects. I’m no hater. So I’m looking forward to Ironheart. With Andor, Doctor Who and The Last of Us over, I don’t have any current TV shows that I’m watching live each week. So bring on Ironheart!

I hope they establish some connection between Riri Williams and Tony Stark, even if she’s just inspired by him. Or are they just going to ignore that she’s building her own Iron Man armor and naming herself Ironheart?

Alien: Earth is Coming

I’ve never been a big fan of the Alien series. I’m just not that into horror movies. But who am I to deny a franchise when it brings me a potentially interesting new TV show to watch? And for this show, they have crossed the final line and brought the Xenomorphs to Earth.

Looks good to me. But then, it doesn’t take much to impress me. I haven’t done any research on this show. I don’t know what it’s going to be about. I’m pretty sure I saw a Xenomorph in the trailer, so they’re definitely in it and the show isn’t just using the name. I wonder if Sigourney Weaver will make a cameo appearance just because it’s theoretically possible. We shall all find out one of these days!

Alien: Earth comes to FX/Hulu on Aug. 12.

Netflix Trailer Bonanza!

Over the weekend, Netflix must have had some kind of exhibitor conference or something, because they released a bunch of trailers for their upcoming movies and projects. Netflix and all streaming services are very bad at marketing their awesome shows and movies, so it makes sense that they’d drop all these trailers at once in a bingable format.

At least it gives me something to post and talk about on a Monday!

First up is the trailer for Happy Gilmore 2. It’s happening. There’s no stopping it now. I’m definitely going to watch. Does watching this movie mean I support studios putting out this kind of low effort slop? Maybe, but I’ve reached a point where I’m too old to care. I’m just gonna do whatever the hell I want and hopefully I’m entertained. That’s all that matters anymore.

Looks so dumb. Chubbs has a son with the exact same wooden hand joke? C’mon, Adam Sandler! But again, I can’t be expecting too much. Just roll with it.

Happy Gilmore 2 comes out on July 25.

Next up, our first look at Wake Up Dead Man, the threequel in the Knives Out series of Benoit Blanc mysteries! I’m super excited for this one.

And it looks great! Definitely did not expect this gothic tone, but then I suppose I had no expectations. Not a fan of Blanc’s new hairstyle, but what do I know? Love the spookiness already. It’ll be a shame when Rian Johnson takes a bit of a break after this one, but by all means, let the man rest. Hopefully we get plenty more Benoit Blanc mysteries in the future.

Wake Up Dead Man comes out on Dec. 12.

Now we’ve got Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein! I’m sure I heard he was making this at some point.

Looks awesome! I’m not classic monster expert, nor am I bored of people remaking all these classic monster movies. Del Toro can try his hand at whatever creature feature he wants; he’s earned his reputation. This is probably going to be one of those movies that makes you wonder why Netflix didn’t push to put it on the big screen. Surely they’d make some good money that way? But, again, what do I know? The monster looks so freaky there at the end.

Frankenstein comes out in November.

Lastly, we have our first look at the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Everybody always thinks the long break between seasons of this show will somehow hurt the series, but season 4 was a total banger!

Looks good to me! I’m fully on board with Stranger Things, and I look forward to them going out on their own terms, however they want, with a big, explosive, action-packed, most likely emotional final season. I have no idea how they might plan to end this, so I say let them do whatever they want! It’ll no doubt be fun and entertaining.

The final season of Stranger Things will come out in three parts, on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Solid strategy.

Looks like a solid slate of things to watch this year on Netflix. Good times!
