6 Things I Want to See in The Book of Boba Fett

Merry Christmas week, everybody! This year we received the greatest present of all time: the announcement, at long last, of the Boba Fett TV series! A Boba Fett movie has been in the works for as long as Disney has owned Stat Wars. But after false starts and failed projects, we finally have the official announcement of The Book of Boba Fett for next December!

When did he have time to write a book?

Once upon a time, I used to do Christmas-themed lists the week of Christmas. I did one about snowmen, one about reindeer, one about Santa in comics…but I ran out of Christmas things to make lists about. So now I feel like doing a nice, simple list where I talk about all the exciting things I want to see in the Boba Fett TV show! That sounds like a fun Christmas activity. And a year from now, when the show kicks off, we can all look back on this list to see if I got anything right!

I am not ashamed of blatant fan service, especially not when it comes to my personal Lists of Six about Star Wars things. And I promise not to put Wraith Squadron on this one. So join me after the jump for my hopes and dreams for The Book of Boba Fett!

The Book of Boba Fett Has Been Confirmed as Its Own Show!

This was a bit of a pickle over the weekend and it turns out we’ve already got an answer! The Book of Boba Fett — which was teased in the final episode of The Mandalorian season 2 — is going to be its own spin-off show. Jon Favreau said as much on Good Morning America this morning.

Boba Fett is a big on literacy

The show will feature the same producers, Favreau and Dave Filoni, with the addition of Robert Rodriguez, who directed Boba Fett’s debut episode on The Mandalorian. Rodriguez, obviously, is a pretty awesome Hollywood director, so this is cool as heck! The show will involve the continuing adventures of Boba Fett and his sidekick, Fennec Shand, with Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen continuing their roles.

I thought, for sure, that The Book of Boba Fett was going to be the third season of The Mandalorian. It seemed like a bold new strategy for the popular series, spending a season following a different version of a Mandalorian. But I will gladly accept both a new spin-off focusing on Boba Fett, along with a third season of The Mandalorian.

Add to that the Ahsoka Tano show and The Rangers of the New Republic and Disney is building quite the little connected Star Wars TV Universe here. And I am in favor of all of it! Bring it on!

Oh Hey, There’s Gonna Be More Disenchantment

Honestly, I don’t think I really care about Disenchantment on Netflix. I love me a good Matt Groening show as much as the next person, but I recall not enjoying Disenchantment all that much. However, it’s been so long since the last season, I can’t remember any of my gripes!

So bring on season 3!

Looks fun! I don’t remember what I didn’t like about the previous seasons, but all of this season 3 stuff looks exciting. So yeah, I’ll definitely watch when the new season comes out on Jan. 15.

Top 6 New Things I’m Excited About from Disney’s Investor Summit

Last Thursday night was a crazy night! Disney held their annual investor summit and, since there were no comic-cons this year, they basically announced EVERYTHING they had coming up for Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel. As everyone here well knows, I love all of those things! So last Thursday was like Christmas come early.

The man, the myth, the legend

I didn’t have the time or energy to write individual blog posts for every single awesome thing to come out of the summit. I shared a bunch of the trailers, which are the best part! Now this list is about some of the other bits and pieces I enjoyed! A ton of new content was announced and I want to share my favorite bits. We already knew about a lot of things, like Tatiana Maslany cast as She-Hulk and the Ms. Marvel show. We also knew the Fantastic Four movie was coming. So this list is about new things we learned at the summit, the things I am, personally, most excited about! Big and small!

So join me after the jump for some truly great upcoming geekery!

Armor Wars is Our Best Chance Ever to Get Stingray Into the MCU

Last week, Disney and Marvel announced a metric ton of new shows and characters coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re getting Ironheart, we’re getting Secret Invasion, we’re getting She-Hulk, we’re getting America Chavez, we’re getting Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania; we’re getting so so so much content over the next few years! It’s going to be great!

Most exciting at all (debatable) is the fact that Stingray could finally make an appearance in the new TV show Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle as War Machine.

This one

Why is this the best chance to get Stingray into the MCU? I’m so glad you asked!

Armor Wars is a classic Iron Man story from the late 1980s, wherein Tony Stark discovers that his armor technology has been stolen and integrated into several armored villains from around the Marvel Universe. So Tony launches a crusade to shut this stuff down, taking on all of these villains…and then it evolves to taking on anyone with armor. He wants to get his tech out of the hands of everybody.

And one of this suspects is, our favorite, Stingray.

This guy

So Iron Man goes after Stingray and battles his fellow Avenger. It’s hero vs. hero! But in the end, after defeating Stingray, Tony learns that Stingray’s armor is not based on Stark designs. He attacked a hero and fellow Avenger for no good reason!

It’s a bit of a turning point in the Armor Wars story…and easily something that could be a turning point in the TV show! It’s one thing to take on the likes of Stilt-Man and the Controller, but to beat up a fellow Avenger? A fellow hero? That’s a big deal! And great for TV drama.

If you’d like to learn more about what the heck I’m talking about, the Iron Man cartoon from the 1990s did an Armor Wars two-parter. And both episodes are available on YouTube! And Disney+, if you’re subscribed.

But YouTube clips are easier to share on this blog. So check out this episode. The Stingray portion begins at the 4:00 mark.

How fun is that? Such an underrated show.

Also, now that I think about it, Armor Wars is also our best chance of getting Stilt-Man into the MCU. That’s also exciting!
