6 Things I Hate That Everybody Else Loves

A couple months ago, I wrote a List of Six about things I love that everybody else seems to hate. A few of you suggested in the comments that I do the reverse list, so here we are. But this list was much harder to put together. ‘Hate’ is a much stronger word than ‘Love’, and I’m just not a hateful guy. I’m mostly apathetic to things I don’t like, especially when it comes to pop culture. Sure there are things in this world that I hate, like having to scrape off my car windshield on an icy morning or when my Internet connection dies.

Or peas, I absolutely hate peas. Worst food in the world!

Just looking at this picture makes me gag

But this is a pop culture blog, and I want to keep it that way. So I racked my brain and tried to think of six things in pop culture that I hate but everybody else seems to love. And it can’t just be things that are popular or successful that I hate. I despise the cult of celebrity that surrounds the Kardashians, but they remain popular – but they’re only popular to that certain cult of people. Most of us would readily agree that the Kardashians are terrible. So they don’t count.

I think I’ve got a solid list. Here are 6 things that I hate that most people, especially my fellow geeks, seem to love.

I apologize in advance if I start going on some vicious rants. And as always, please feel free to share some of your own hates in the comments!

Superman with a GoPro Rocks the Internet

I’m not one to shy away from Internet phenomenons, so check out this video of what it might be like if Superman wore a GoPro camera!

What the heck though?! Superman didn’t even go back to put out that fire! Still, awesome little video for this awesome day of Internetting. Go work, you fine folks at Corridor Digital.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/15/14

Welcome to the Ides of March my friends! Why isn’t this holiday celebrated anymore? You never heard about any other Ides of any other months. I wonder why this one went out of style…oh wait…right. But let’s not dwell on history’s murderous past! Let’s celebrate the present, and all the great comic books its giving us!

First of all, Captain Marvel is back! It was one of my favorite comics from the past year, and I was very excited to see it return…until it started making some startling changes! We’ll see if they’re good changes or bad. Beyond that, we’ve got explosive issues of Batman, Superior Spider-Man and Superman/Wonder Woman, as well as the second issues of X-Force and Fantastic Four. One of those is doing better than the other. And now I’m starting feel like a broken record for declaring Hawkeye #17 the Comic Book of the Week. But with panels like this one, how could I choose anything else?

It only gets better from here

This is a story you’ve got to see to believe.

Comic Reviews: Batman #29, Captain Marvel #1, Fantastic Four #2, Hawkeye #17, Superior Spider-Man #29, Superman/Wonder Woman #6 and X-Force #2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/15/14

Where is all the love? Valentine’s Day was only yesterday, yet none of this week’s comics were lovey dovey in the very least! Where was the pink? Or the hearts? Maybe Cupid has gone crazy and starts attacking Gotham City? Not even a Star Sapphire one-shot special? I feel very disappointed.

Heck, not even Superman/Wonder Woman was all that romantic, unless you count fighting super-villains to be date material…which I do. But love aside, we’ve got a smattering of good comics this week, including the future of Harper Row over in Batman, and the future of Toad in Wolverine and the X-Men. I was very tempted to celebrate all things Toad this week, but the new She-Hulk series files the proper motions to become Comic Book of the Week.

Not that Toad wasn’t awesome…and a little romantic.

Comic Reviews: Batman #28, She-Hulk #1, Superior Spider-Man #27, Superman/Wonder Woman #5, Wolverine and the X-Men #41 and X-Force #1.

I May Have to Take Back My Support of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor

Screen Junkies have hit the nail on the head for why Eisenberg might not be the best choice for Lex Luthor.

I’m still going to keep an open mind and hope for the best though.
