Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews -2/11/17
The superhero movie bombardment has begun! This year is going to be bursting at the seams with new superhero movies, and The LEGO Batman Movie has kicked things off with aplomb! It’s a super fun film and a great celebration of Batman! I’m going to put my review into next week’s List of Six, so stay tuned.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any Batman comics to review this week. Granted, about half a dozen different Batman-focused comics came out, but I don’t read them well enough to add them to the review pile. So you’re only getting fun Marvel Comics this week! Including the Comic Book of the Week, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!
The latest issue of Inhumans vs. X-Men also came out this week, but it was kind of a non-issue. A bunch of stuff happened that will move the story along, sure, but none of it had much thematic or dramatic weight. The story just moved along, but at least Marvel didn’t make any more new blunders to vilify Cyclops.
Comic Reviews: Jessica Jones #5, Ms. Marvel #15, Power Man and Iron Fist #13, Unworthy Thor #4 and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #17.

Can you believe it’s February already? I know everybody says that all the time, but still. February. Wow. But hey, that hasn’t stopped comics from coming out!
This week saw a nice, competent pile of good books, from new Hawkeye to Nova to Harley Quinn. These are some of my favorites! Comic Book of the Week goes to the second issue of Unstoppable Wasp for creating a truly unstoppably charming character!
I expect a crossover with the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl very soon. What happens when an unstoppable object meets an unbeatable object?
Comic Reviews: Harley Quinn #13, Hawkeye #3, Nightwing #14, Nova #3, and Unstoppable Wasp #2.

Comics! I love’em. You love’em! We can’t live without’em! And here’s another big stack of reviews for comics I read this week. Kind of fun how I keep doing this.
Lots of good reading options this week, from Infamous Iron Man to the new Hulk series to my return to the Pink Ranger mini-series. There are so many good comics to choose from these days. Including and especially the new issue of Spider-Woman, which easily wins Comic Book of the Week due to another impressive, emotional issue.
Though I’m not going to lie to you: Spider-Woman #15 is crazier than I could have ever guessed.
I’ve also figured out the worst part about Inhumans vs. X-Men: the unintentional villainy of Ms. Marvel. I’m clearly with the X-Men on this one. The Inhumans are monsters who are comfortable with either killing or deporting every mutant on Earth. Since she’s an Inhuman, Kamala Khan gets drafted into the Inhumans’ side with the new issue, and it’s repugnant. That Kamala would so cheerfully and excitedly join the side in favor of genocide is just wrong. But here we are.
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #949, Hulk #2, Infamous Iron Man #4, Power Rangers — Pink #6, Prowler #4, Spider-Woman #15, The Dregs #1 and Teen Titans #4.

In my efforts to avoid the dark days that have befallen America, I’d like to focus on comic books today! It’s what I do every Saturday, but we could really, really use some heroic superheroes right now. Fortunately for us, we’ve got a nice smattering of comics.
Some are really good, like Nightwing, U.S. Avengers and more, while others are just OK, like Harley Quinn, Iron Man and a new Captain Marvel debut. And some are just a ton of fun, like this week’s Comic Book of the Week, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11!
Check out the Power Rangers trapped in an alternate, dark reality!
Meanwhile, The Clone Conspiracy finally gets good as writer Dan Slott delivers some actually, worthwhile character-based drama. Any Spider-Man story can instantly be made better by focusing on Otto and Anna Maria. Though this is also the issue where Ben Reilly goes full villain, so there’s that, too.
Comic Reviews: Harley Quinn #12, Invincible Iron Man #3, Mighty Captain Marvel #1, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11, Mosaic #4, Nightwing #13 and U.S. Avengers #2.

Greetings and various salutations, good readers. I come to you today with another pile of comic book reviews, some good, most OK, and all worth my time. Comics are good like that.
We’ve got everything from Batman to Ms. Marvel to Captain America to the Mighty Thor this week, once again reveling in the fact that I am clearly too much of a Marvel fanboy for my own good.
For example, did you know it is Squirrel Girl’s 25th anniversary? I did not, but the comic book says so, and I’m going to take it at it’s word! Comic Book of the Week goes to the Squirrel Girl anniversary issue!

We’re everywhere!
This week also featured a crossover between the Justice League and the Power Rangers, which was just spiffy, but I didn’t get around to reviewing it. The comic does give us the team up we never knew we wanted: Batman and the Pink Power Ranger. That’s just quality entertainment right there.
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #948, Jessica Jones #4, Mighty Thor #15, Ms. Marvel #14, Power Man and Iron Fist #12, Steve Rogers: Captain America #9 and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #17.
