Apparently the First Trailer for the Robocop Remake Arrived Just in Time for My Birthday

Is this your present to me, Internet? The first trailer for the new Robocop movie? I’ve never been a big Rococop fan. I never even saw the original Robocop when I was a kid in the 80s. I waited until I was well into adulthood before watching a marathon of Robocop movies. Why do you think I care, Internet?

The trailer looks barely OK. Looks like a basic Robocop movie that randomly stars Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. How is a stellar cast like that appearing in Robocop?

Whatever the level of Robocop nostalgia, I think we can all agree that any movie coming out on Feb. 7 is already pre-ordained to fail. January and February are a crappy movie dumping ground. Everybody knows this, yet Hollywood keeps releasing movies in that season. It’s a never-ending cycle that won’t be broken with Robocop.

Oh jeez, I think I’m becoming a crotchety old man already…

Make Fun of Iron Man Day

So for some reason, the universe really decided to stick it to Iron Man yesterday, with two completely independent comical films on Youtube. And me being the schmuck that I am, I’m sharing both at the same time!

First up is a pretty hilarious spoof of what it would be like if Mark Wahlberg replaced Robert Downey Jr. This is a spot-on Wahlberg impression by Dave Ebert.

That was made by the fine people at Official Comedy, and it is officially awesome!

Next up is the Honest Trailers take on Iron Man 3. As you know, I enjoyed Iron Man 3 a great deal, but the Screen Junkies definitely have a lot of fun picking it apart. I was fine with the whole Mandarin reveal until watching their video. Now I am kind of upset about the whole thing…

Iron Man took a beating yesterday, but I’m sure he’ll keep on ticking. Onward to Thor in November!

Fashionably Late to the Rocket Raccoon Party

Last week, it was announced that Bradley Cooper had been cast as the voice of Rocket Raccoon in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy. I should have done something then, but along came the holiday weekend, and some X-Boxing, so I just kind of blew it off. Well, today is a slow news day, so say hello to your Rocket Raccoon!

There’s a Hangover joke in here somewhere

I haven’t made up my mind yet whether or not I care for this casting. Cooper seems like an inspired choice, but then I’m having a hard time picturing his voice coming out of a CGI raccoon. Cooper has a calm, level voice, I think, very human. Not something you’d expect from an insane, gun-wielding space raccoon.

But maybe he’ll surprise us. Meanwhile, I’m totally behind Vin Diesel as Groot.

Let’s All Celebrate the Troops By Hating on Justin Bieber

Who doesn’t love a long, holiday weekend? Laziness, cookouts, good times. So let’s celebrate with a Cinema Sins blast against that Justin Bieber movie. Good luck sitting through it.

Oof, that was harder than I thought. But at least I can say that those 8 minutes were the only 8 minutes I have ever spent acknowledging Justin Bieber in my life. It’s just that kind of a day, I suppose.

The Avengers to Reap Cosmic Justice for the Last Few Seasons of The Office

I loved The Office. The show was amazing, the characters were great, and it was definitely appointment TV. But towards the end, it just got bad. It lost all of the magic of the earlier seasons, and it just started piling on bad characters. Worst of all was James Spader as Robert California. Wow, did I hate Robert California. He’s probably the No. 1 reason I stopped watching The Office.

Well lo and behold, the Avengers themselves are going to step up and avenge my lost love! James Spader has been cast as Ultron in The Avengers sequel!

He already looks like a robot

I know Spader is probably just going to be voicing a robot – what with Ultron being a robot – but this still means the Avengers are going to put the beat down on Robert California! This is exciting news.
