Forget Those Other Movie Trailers, Here’s One for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
I’m as big a Ghostbusters fan as the next average Joe. I don’t take that fandom to the extreme like some people, but there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. I think these new movies are banking very, very hard on nostalgia, whereas the original was successful without that. Anyway, check out this new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire for yourself.
Looks packed to the gills with nostalgia. Like, it’s insane. There is so much god damned nostalgia in this movie. Is it even its own movie?! Yes, there’s a new monster bad guy that doesn’t seem — so far — to have anything to do with Vigo the Carpathian. And the city freezing over is new to the movies. But Walter Peck is apparently mayor. Janine is in uniform. Slimer. They’re quoting the song lyrics. It’s a little too much, even for me.
But I’m not made of stone. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire comes to theaters on March 22, so in two months!

Movie Trailer Monday!
It’s Monday. I’m off from work. Just home relaxing, sleeping in, and sharing a couple of movie trailers that showed up on the internet over the weekend. That’s how I roll. That’s how the world should roll.
We’ll kick things off with Despicable Me 4, which is apparently the highest grossing animated movie franchise of all time? God damn world.
Looks OK. Mostly it looks full of too much new stuff. New baby, new villain, new…sidekick? Who is that woman with the poofy red hair in the final scene? This trailer is just about hijinks instead of story, which is a shame. I’d like some story…not that I really care, honestly. I’m no Despicable Me purist or anything. Also, why aren’t the girls aging at all? That would be fun to explore.
Despicable Me 4 comes to theaters on July 3.
Next up is Monkey Man, wherein Dev Patel stars and directs his own John Wick.
Looks fine. Looks full of action. And that’s what it wants to be. Dav Patel and producer Jordan Peele should be able to make something good, I should think.
Monkey Man comes to theaters on April 5.
Lastly, it’s Ricky Stanicky!
John Cena and Zac Efron having fun in a straight-to-Amazon Prime movie? Could be worth a watch. Could be garbage. We’ll never know until it comes to Prime on March 7 and somebody remembers to watch it.

Adam Sandler Has Made a Weird Spaceman Movie
Adam Sandler makes movies, sometimes they’re fun and dumb, and sometimes they’re thinky pieces starring astronauts trapped in space and possibly hallucinating. That’s what seems to be the case with Spaceman, his new Netflix movie.
Looks…weird? I wonder why they went with a giant spider. I wonder why they went with any of it. But if Sandler is involved, it’s no doubt going to be some degree of good. So count me in!
Spaceman comes to Netflix on March 1.

My 6 Most Anticipated Pop Cultures of 2024
Happy New Year, everybody! Happy 2024! This year is going to be a good year for me. I’m losing weight. I’ve got some self-published comic book stuff coming up. My New Year’s Resolution is to finally master this banana bread recipe I’ve been dying to make, but kept putting off. And we’ve got…an acceptable amount of cool movies, TV shows and games coming up. Let’s talk about them.
Looking ahead, there isn’t much to be excited about in pop culture, to be honest. Not like last year, when we had a ton of great video games on the horizon, and a lot of movie potential. This year doesn’t have a whole lot. But I took a look around and have made a list anyway! There are some things I’m excited about and looking forward to, with my hopes up. So why not share?
Join me after the jump for six bits of pop culture I’m looking forward to in the new year. And feel free to share your own hopes and dreams for the year ahead in the comments below!
Read the rest of this entryI Didn’t Care for Wonka
I never liked the look or even the general idea of the new Wonka movie, the Willy Wonka origin story. But then it started getting a ton of good reviews, and I decided to give it a try at my local movie theater — and I didn’t care for it. The movie is bright, colorful, fun and whimsical, all things I normally enjoy, but I couldn’t get over the obnoxious insistence on being a Willy Wonka origin story. Every little Easter Egg was like that time we learned the meaning behind Han Solo’s last name.
But let’s not hold that against the Willy Wonka character! Who is now animated!
Tell It Animated is getting better at releasing their videos closer to the actual release date of the new movie/show/comic. So that’s nice. This was another solid video.
And as always, my recommendation for his next video is Robin!
