Speaking of The Force Awakens…

The Honest Trailers people have finally tackled Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Good for them.

They’ve also got a new show coming out called ‘After Credits’, which they’re making with the How It Should Have Ended people. The parody groups are coming together! They’re uniting, hopefully for the betterment of us all.

This Video Contains a Ton of My Favorite Things

Internet parodies, LEGOs and Star Wars come together in How The Force Awakens Should Have Ended!

It’s funny, it’s awesome and it’s an all-around good time. The How It Should Have Ended folks did an earlier Force Awakens bit, but I prefer when things are done in LEGO. Oh and hey, the DVD comes out today too! Neat.

6 Characters I Do and 6 Characters I Don’t Want to See in the DC Cinematic Universe

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has come and gone, and now all that’s left is for that justice to finished dawning. The movie made all the money, so there’s no doubt that Warner Bros. is going to forge ahead with all of their plans. We’ve got the Wonder Woman movie coming out next year for sure, and plans are in place for the Justice League, Aquaman, Cyborg and more. In a few short years, the DC Cinematic Universe could be as big and as varied as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So what does an old comic book fan like me want to see in the DCCU?

This has all been pre-ordained

I did this list before with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who doesn’t love talking potential movies or character cameos? There are decades of DC characters, both big and small, who could be used on the big screen. Not all of them deserve their own movies, sure, but who doesn’t love a little Easter Egg or two? Maybe a surprise cameo? The sky is the limit for DC. If they can make Superman dark and gloomy, then they can do it to anybody, and any character can appear.

Join me after the jump to see who I would like to show up, as well as who I hope DC keeps on the cutting room floor.

Review: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

I’m not really sure what I think about Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. I can’t bring myself to say it’s a bad movie, because it’s competently made and sometimes enjoyable. But I can’t bring myself to say it’s a good movie, because it’s utterly joyless and, at times, terribly made. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is the Transformers of superhero movies. It’s a big, CGI mess of darkness and explosions, but sometimes it’s fun seeing these characters on screen, and it’s going to make all the money.

Movie Rating: 5/10 – Alright.

At the very least, it’s kind of cool to see these superheroes on the big screen together. Part of me did get excited to see Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman standing together against adversity (even if we’d already seen it in the trailers). But another part of me wished the movie was more fun. BvS is a dark, drab, gritty production that puts even the Christopher Nolan Batman movies to shame. This film is the exact opposite of the successful and wonderful Marvel movies. There’s no charm, no joy, no heroics and, most important, no fun.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is the grimdark superhero trend taken to its ultimate conclusion. If you like your superheroes as grimdark and serious as possible, this might be the movie for you. But I would have liked something more enjoyable.

I Sincerely Hope the LEGO Batman Movie Doesn’t Make the Obvious Robin Jokes

The first teaser trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie arrived the other day, and it’s fun. Should be a good show.

Michael Cera is playing Robin in the movie, which could also be fine. But man, I really really hope they don’t just go with the obvious Robin jokes in this film. I think we can all picture Cera making the same, tired old gay jokes at Robin’s expense. But it’s 2016, dagnabbit! I hope these people have something better in mind.
