The Anticipation is Killing Me!
Only 8 more days until Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Thank you, random LEGO video, for helping to tide me over. Every little bit helps. And thanks to Toscano Bricks for making it in the first place.

6 Things I Want to See in Daredevil Season 2
Good news, everybody! Marvel and Netflix have given the green light to a second season of Daredevil, due to hit our screens next year! After the huge success and popularity of the first season, everybody seems ready to jump right into more Daredevil without waiting for the Defenders to come and go. This is great news! There is so much more Daredevil goodness that we need to experience! So many more stories that can be told!
I’m already well into a second viewing of all 13 episodes. The show is just that much fun. And like any good comic book fan, my mind is racing with where the show can go in Season 2. Some ideas are more obvious — and definitely made my list — and some are just what I’d like to see going forward. So join me after the jump for six things I hope we get in the second season of Daredevil.
And feel free to leave some of your own suggestions in the comments!
Phil Urich in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The ne’er-do-well Phil Urich is one of my all-time favorite comic book characters, and there’s a very real chance that he now exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to the TV show Daredevil. For a geek like me, this is pretty exciting news — but it might only exist in my head. I don’t have any proof, this is just an elaborate fan theory.
But who doesn’t love fan theories?
Due to the SPOILERS nature of my theory, I’m going to save the bulk of my evidence for after the jump. Some people haven’t watched the whole season yet, and they need to be protected from this mind-blowing news. Just know that Ben Urich is a main character in Daredevil, played by Vondie Curtis-Hall. And in the comics, Ben has a nephew named Phil, who sometimes works with him at the newspaper.
Phil started out as a superhero in the 90s, taking on the identity of the Green Goblin for a short-lived series (that just so happened to serve as my gateway into comic book fandom). But most recently, Phil has been a bad guy, jumping through various goblin identities, like Hobgoblin, Goblin Knight and, most recently, the Goblin King.
I doubt we’ll ever get to see any of these identities in the movies or TV show, but now that Spider-Man is back in Marvel’s loving arms, you never know…
Anyway, join me after the jump to see my evidence that Phil Urich is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! And again, watch out for SPOILERS for Daredevil!
New Fantastic Four Trailer Has a Lot of Stuff!
Desperate to join the party, a new trailer for the Fantastic Four movie hit the Internet today. I don’t see why they couldn’t wait until the hype died down from the Ant-Man, Star Wars and Batman v. Superman trailers, but let’s keep this party going!
I don’t know how I feel about this new trailer. I don’t know if I’m suffering from trailer overload or what, but I’m just…underwhelmed. Sometimes I forget that this movie is even coming out this Summer. I dunno. The new trailer shows off a lot of action, a lot of powers, a lot of neat character moments; it’s got everything a good trailer should have. But I just don’t really care.
I mean, I’ll definitely go see it. But Fantastic Four is definitely the forgotten son of the summer.
Here’s a cool movie poster that illicits the exact same reaction from me. The characters sure do look neat, right? I think the AVClub’s detached apathy explains things pretty well.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/18/15
With DC Comics still mired in the murk of Convergence, I get the chance to go outside my wheelhouse this week! Alongside a couple of outstanding Marvel titles, we’ve got the latest issue of Lumberjanes, a series I have been ignoring for too darn long, as well as the first issue of Bloodshot Reborn from Valiant Comics. Valiant has been doing their best to make waves, recently, and I say more power to them.
Though Comic Book of the Week goes to Ms. Marvel #14 for continuing what may be my favorite storyline of the fledgling series so far!
Secret Wars is going to be a real slog at Marvel if we don’t get our monthly Ms. Marvel fix!
Over at Word of the Nerd, you can check out my review of Uncanny X-Men #33. Normally I’d be all over that comic in this column, but Bendis takes a break from his ongoing Cyclops strolling for a filler issue. So no harm done.
Also, only two more weeks until Avengers: Age of Ultron! The anticipation grows stronger with every passing day.
Comic Reviews: Bloodshot Reborn #1, Lumberjanes #13, Ms. Marvel #14 and Thor #7.
