6 Things I Want to See From DC’s New 10-Year Plan

Last week saw major waves in the world of superhero entertainment when Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav struck down the already completed Batgirl movie, refusing to even let it air on HBO Max. I was disappointed, because I would have gladly watched a Batgirl movie, even if I didn’t have high hopes. Then immediately after the cancellation, Zaslav announced a bold 10-year plan for DC properties moving forward, with him expecting to turn all DC superhero movies into blockbusters.

Peacemaker reboot incoming

Now that the dust has settled, I’ve decided to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams on this 10-year plan. I am an avowed Marvel fanboy. I still love everything Marvel Studios is putting out and I’m not experiencing that superhero fatigue at all. I’m still in awe that all these comic book characters are getting these great shows and movies. I’m open to liking DC stuff, but Zack Snyder’s visions definitely didn’t work on me in the long run. This new 10-year plan could mean all sorts of different things going forward.

Join me after the jump for my ideas for this 10-year plan and what I hope to see happen. And please feel free to share your own hopes and dreams for DC in the comments.

6 Marvel Properties I Want to see in Phase 6

Marvel Studios blew the top off San Diego Comic-Con the other week by announcing all of Phase 5, with teases of Phase 6 into 2025. But Phase 6 has a bunch of holes in it. We know it’s going to start with the Fantastic Four and end with a pair of Avengers films, but what else is going to fill these open spots?

There are 8 blanks

There’s a very good chance we will learn the rest of Phase 6 at Disney’s upcoming fan event in September. They won’t stay a secret for long. But between now and that fan event, I might as well spend some time mindlessly speculating about what I want to see going forward in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What else is there to fill our days but mindless speculation?

Join me after the jump for six TV shows and movies I hope to see from Marvel Studios in Phase 6! And feel free to share some of your own hopes and dreams in the comments!

The 6 Characters on My Comic Book Thunderbolts

What an exciting Comic Con! All the big names in pop culture had a great time in San Diego this past weekend, especially Marvel Studios. They revealed a ton of upcoming movies and finally confirmed that they’re working on a Thunderbolts picture. This makes that team the perfect choice for my annual team roster tradition.

The movie probably won’t have a comics accurate roster

Every Comic Con, I have a bit of creative fun by picking my ideal superhero team roster. Someday I’d like to write superhero comics for a living, and that means I might get the chance to pick my dream roster for various superhero teams. I’ve written about my dream Avengers, Justice League, Teen Titans, Fantastic Four and a host of others, including some original X-Team ideas for the Krakoa era. It’s just a fun little game where I get to live my dreams!

And this year I’m going to do my ideal comic book Thunderbolts! I already did a List of Six a month ago for my Thunderbolts roster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what about in the comics? Join me after the jump to see how I would remake the Thunderbolts on the page! And feel free to share your own dream Thunderbolts teams in the comments!

6 Thoughts on Ms. Marvel (Review)

Kamala Khan has arrived on our television screens and the Ms. Marvel show was everything I could have wanted and more! I’ve been a champion of the character since she was first announced in comics, and I couldn’t be happier at how well this character was actually received and how popular she’s become. And I’m so glad her TV show was amazing.

TV Show Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic

This might be my new favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show. Pretty much every aspect of this show was perfect — and a perfect translation from the comics. The showrunners captured that wonderful Kamala Khan dynamic directly from the page, and infused the series with joy, energy and wonderful character development. They got the family right. They got the religion right. They may have crammed a bit too much into just six episodes, but that’s not a dealbreaker.

6 Thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder (Review)

I loved Thor: Ragnarok. It was one of the best, funniest movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I love the other works of director Taika Waititi. The dude is very creative and does good work. So I, like most people, was super excited for his direct follow-up, Thor: Love and Thunder. And I really like the movie, I think Thor: Love and Thunder is good. But all of the pieces were there where it could have been great.

Movie Rating: 7/10 – Good

I think my voice is just one in a multitude chorus of people having the same response to Love and Thunder. It’s not as good as Ragnarok. It’s still good and entertaining. But man, it’s nowhere near as amazing as we all hoped it would be. That’s a shame. But it’s not the end of the world. There are still a lot of great aspects about the movie to enjoy. And I would definitely recommend anybody to give it a watch. This is not the death knell of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, no matter what the haters say.
