The 6 Best Bird Superheroes

That’s right, it’s come to this: bird-themed superheroes. Everybody loves birds, right? They can fly, so that puts them one-up on us puny humans. They’ve got feathers, which are pretty neat. They poop everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Birds. They’re…well they’re birds.

And apparently they make for solid superhero inspiration!

I should just stop right now, list complete

I’ve already tackled sports, fire, ice, cats and Canandians in my Lists of Six, why not birds? Cats eat birds, so it kind of comes full circle. And if jetpacks are never invented, some kind of bird-harness would be our next best bet for flying – though I’m sure our arms will get tired! Zing! Anyway, bird superheroes are a thing, and at least six of them are better than all the rest!

6 of My Fictional Mary Sues

I make no bones about my life as a young fan fiction writer. I am actually quite proud of the work that Young Sean churned out at such a young age – even if I can rarely bring myself to go back and read the stories I wrote. You can check them out at FanFiction.net. Those stories laid the groundwork for the Sean you know today.

And one of the things I loved more than anything else was creating my own Mary Sue characters in popular fiction. Though back then, I had no idea what a ‘Mary Sue’ even was.

Nope, that’s Mary Jane

According to TVtropes.com, Mary Sue is the derogative term for an original fan fiction character inserted by the author into an already popular series, usually to serve as some kind of wish fulfillment. Mary Sues typically have dramatic backstories, awesome names, unique looks, and more often than not, upstage the main characters. For example, say you wrote a Harry Potter fan fic and inserted your own original Hufflepuff wizard, and the story was all about how your wizard fell in love with Draco Malfoy and turned him into a good guy with the power of love. It’s that sort of idealized character inserted into pre-existing stories.

I don’t think I was ever that bad, but I loved creating my own original characters for all my favorite cartoons and movies. Join me after the jump to take a look at just a few of them, and feel free to share some of your own in the comments! No judgement.

Also, as Google has revealed, I was not the only person in the world to come up with these exact same ideas. But I was young, and the Internet wasn’t a thing yet, so forgive me if some of these ideas aren’t 100% unique or original. They were to me at the time.

6 X-Men Who Are Ready For Their Movie Close Up

There are probably going to be more X-Men movies from now until the end of time. Think about it. At what point does FOX stop making X-Men movies? What is the breaking point? We’re more than 10 years into the superhero movie extravaganza, with seven X-Men movies already on the big screen, and the latest one – Days of Future Past – being hailed as the best one of the entire series.

Not to mention the fact that if FOX stops making X-Men movies, then those lucrative licensing rights revert back to their sworn enemies, Disney and Marvel. So why would FOX ever stop making new X-Men movies?!

They’ve already doubled up on Magnetos and Xaviers

They wouldn’t. Heck, I’m surprised we haven’t seen more spin-offs. There’s that X-Force movie everybody’s always talking about. Next up in the main franchise is X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. And there’s another Wolverine movie coming at some point. There are a lot more movies coming out – which means FOX needs a lot more mutants to throw into the mix. Days of Future Past alone introduced Quicksilver, Blink, Warpath and Sunspot. Who’s left?

Each new movie seems to bring along new characters from the comics. And considering how deep the pool of X-Men and mutants is, I thought I’d give FOX a hand and name six comic book mutants ready to strut their stuff on the big screen!

6 Things I Want For My Birthday

Happy Birthday to me! That’s right, even we bloggers have birthdays, and mine is this weekend! I even have it off from work. How cool is that? Not that I plan on throwing a big party or anything. Maybe a movie with some friends, and a big, succulent, decadent chocolate cake. That’s good eats.

Resistance is futile!

In an effort to make me feel old, I’m going to willingly reveal to you fine readers that I’ll be turning 31. Some will say that 31 is a scary age…and they’re absolutely right! Jeez! I’m 31?! How did that happen?!

Ahem. Sorry about that. At least they say you’re only as old as you feel, and I don’t feel 31. I feel young enough to actually make a list of presents I want on my birthday! Join me after the jump for possibly my most selfish List of Six ever!

The 6 Best French Superheroes

Leave it to the craziness of the world to spur my imagination! There I was, dear readers, wondering what sort of List of Six I could write for you this week. I hadn’t even started as of Tuesday morning, but nothing was coming to mind. Maybe a list of bird superheroes? People like birds…But no! Lo and behold, the universe was ready for me! French President Francois Hollande dissolved the French government this week!

And what better way to note the occasion than with a list of the coolest French comic book characters?

Oo la la!

I didn’t even know you could do that to the French government. It’s France! You’d think they’d have their croissants all in a row. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those French-hating Americans. Those guys are idiots. France is a pretty cool place, and was my foreign language of choice all through grade school. And you better believe there are some pretty cool French superheroes and supervillains out there!

Join me after the jump to get a good look at them.
