Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/16/23

By this time next week, I will be on the road for the family Christmas getaway! Should be a blast! But until then, we’ve got a few comics to read, though this was one of those very light weeks for me.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Outsiders #2 because it was marginally better than the only other comic I read this week. Also, this is a cool sea monster design.

Meanwhile, I finished off Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which ended rather anticlimactically. I then splurged on Super Mario Wonder as my last video game purchase for a while (gotta save money). Haven’t played it yet, but I’m quite excited. I also watched Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix this past week and it was pretty amazing! So consider that a big recommendation.

Comic Reviews: Captain America #4 and Outsiders #2.

Only a few more weeks until Christmas! That doesn’t particularly mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it definitely works to open up this comic review article. We’ve also got new issues of the likes of Batman and Transformers to enjoy.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Birds of Prey #4 for an action and character-focused issue that really kicks things up a notch.

Meanwhile, I’m almost done with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but mostly that game was all about building my own lightsaber. I think I should share my endgame creation! I’m also finally working my way through the fourth season of Harley Quinn. It’s not as strong a show as it was at the beginning, but it’s still enjoyable.

Comic Reviews: Batman #140, Birds of Prey #4, Fantastic Four #14, Thunderbolts #1, Transformers #3 and X-Men #29.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/2/23

It’s a quite week for comics, with only a pair of reviews I’m afraid. Works just fine for me! I’ve got a bunch of other stuff of my own brewing, and I can’t wait to share with all you loyal readers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men Blue: Origins #1 because I fully support this retcon and I simply didn’t read much else. I should have got caught back up on other comics, but nah.

He’s gonna regret that suit sooner rather than later

Meanwhile, I’m still meandering my way through Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, except I’m more interested in collecting all the lightsaber and clothing hidden treasures than I am in the story, so the game is just me reading online guides so that I don’t miss any hidden boxes. Oh well.

Comic Reviews: Captain America #3 and X-Men Blue: Origins #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/25/23

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I had a relatively fine visit home with the family, and a big, fun pile of comics to read and enjoy! This is one of those weeks where a lot of my favorites have come out, like Nightwing, Superman and Power Rangers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #3 for another stellar, super enjoyable issue of Wonder Woman being awesome!

Hello there

Meanwhile, I splurged on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this past week because it was on sale and I’m enjoying it well enough. I haven’t really given myself time to dive in deep, but I’m sure I will this weekend. I’m also, hopefully, going to read Do a Powerbomb by Daniel Warren Johnson! I’m excited for that. I should mention more graphic novels I’m reading on the side. Like, I read Eight Billion Genies and it was really good. So go me!

Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114, Nightwing #108, Sensational She-Hulk #2, Superman #8, Void Rivals #6 and Wonder Woman #3.

DC Trailer Tuesday

Last week we had Marvel Trailer Thursday, and now we’ve got DC Trailer Tuesday. DC is not about to be undone. They’ve got their own movie and cartoon coming up. Fancy that.

First up is a new trailer for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.

I’m definitely looking forward to this one. I very much enjoyed the first Aquaman movie. It was a big, wild and crazy mess of a movie. And this sequel looks just as big and crazy. That should be fun, right? Will this movie defeat the superhero fatigue that killed The Marvels? I guess we’ll find out!

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes to theaters on Dec. 22.

Next up is a delightful new standalone cartoon movie, Merry Little Batman!

We’ve been hearing about this for months now, and this trailer is our first actual look at what the end product is going to be. I think it looks delightful! Funny, silly, with great voice acting; Merry Little Batman might be the sleeper hit of the season!

Merry Little Batman comes to Amazon Prime on Dec. 8.
