Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/12/23

If you’re reading this when it posts on Saturday, I should be in New York City visiting Flame Con, the world’s premiere LGBTQ+ comic book convention! I’m going to meet the artist on my next Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel. I’ll have more to share about that soon, but it’s her first time on the East Coast, and it makes for a nice day trip for me!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman Annual #1 for a whole and hearty issue that does a lot with the ongoing story, while setting up even more! I don’t know if I’ve ever been this excited about Lobo.

Looks like a job for Superman…

Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 proceeds in spectacular fashion. I’ve currently got three games going, a co-op game with a friend where I’m a wild magic sorcerer, a solo game where I’m a heroic half-orc bard and a third game where I’m going to try to be evil. I normally hate being evil in games, but the evil route seems to have a lot of interesting differences.

Comic Reviews: Avengers #4, Immortal X-Men #14 and Superman Annual #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/5/23

It’s a new dawn! It’s a new day! The Fall of X is here and I actually read a couple of those books, like the new X-Men and Astonishing Iceman. I’m a bit more on board now than I was before.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Scarlet Witch #7 for a really fun, creative, done-in-one story.

Magneto has come back from the dead a bajillion times

Meanwhile, it’s a new world, friends. I have put Tears of the Kingdom behind me and have started Baldur’s Gate 3! Tannenbaum, my half-orc bard, is living the good life. Adventure is his! Let us hope I can make it all the way through this game. Also, I loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and I’ll have a review up on Wednesday.

Comic Reviews: Astonishing Iceman #1, Fantastic Four #10, Justice Society of America #5, Scarlet Witch #7 and X-Men #25.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/29/23

It’s a big week in comics this week with a new Hellfire Gala that changes the face of the X-Men once again! I’ll probably be checking out a lot of the new X-books this fall, so hopefully they’re good.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #110 for an issue where the bad guys win that doesn’t leave me in a bad mood, unlike another certain issue this week.

Sometimes morphin looks weird

Meanwhile, I finished both Tears of the Kingdom and Diablo 4 in the same weekend, so now i’m currently sans video game. I should probably get back into reading! I have a huge pile of comic book tpbs that I just keep buying for the fun of buying, but have yet to start reading. Gotta fix that.

Comic Reviews: Avengers #3, Hellfire Gala #1, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #110 and She-Hulk #15.

Top 6 Rainbow Superheroes

I’m a little bit late for Pride Month, but this list was fun to put together nonetheless! Rainbows are great. They’re bright, they’re colorful, and everybody still loves them after no doubt seeing them their whole lives. As we all know, rainbows are caused by light refracting through water droplets in the air, usually after it rains. And that image is sometimes used for comic book characters.

Why are there…

Rainbows work as both a costume idea, a way to describe someone’s powers or just a fun accessory for the superhero. They fill a page with color and energy, and bring smiles wherever they go. I knew of some rainbow-based comic book characters already, but the internet is ever giving, and I found even more to fill out this list. And it’s a fun list!

Join me after the jump for six of the more colorful, light refracting off water droplet characters in all of comics!

The Flash, Animated

The Flash movie is gonna be the biggest bomb of all time, so huzzah for that and good luck to Blue Beetle. But The Flash still happened, and there’s plenty of meat to work with for our pal at Tell It Animated! Enjoy his designs of the Flash’s red costume with yellow accents!

Another banger of an episode. Sometimes I wonder if he should better time these things with the actual film release…but I think The Flash came out on digital release recently? And perhaps he wanted to wait to recap the final scenes in The Flash. Either way, it’s an all-encompassing episode that shows off the Flash, as it is supposed to.

Now do Robin!
