The Upcoming Chip n’ Dale Movie Goes to Some Weird Place
The “live action” Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers movie is coming in a month on Disney+ and I don’t think it’s like anything any of us expected. It’s so meta it’s on a whole different level. But it still looks kind of…like it’s going to be OK.
I’m definitely a John Mulaney fan, and he gets a couple of really good lines as Chip. So I guess we’re just going to see if this whole thing holds together and gets to be a good movie. I’m going to keep my hopes high. I loved the cartoon as a kid, and I’m capable of a lot of hope.
Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers comes to Disney+ on May 20.

How The Batman Should Have Ended
Welp, it’s another Monday. Gotta get up. Gotta go to work. Gotta consider something to share on my blog. Thankfully, the fine folks at How It Should Have Ended put up their cartoon for The Batman. Makes my Monday just that much easier. These people still do good work.
Some OK jokes. Some good plot hole poking. And a really fun alternate ending. Good times all around. And it wasn’t just 10 minutes of their cafe scenes that I don’t like. Heck, I even liked this one! The most important thing is that my Monday posting is taken care of.

I’m Now Less Interested in the Lightyear Movie
The first teaser trailer for Lightyear really struck a chord with me thanks to its sweet rendition of David Bowie’s “Starman”. We didn’t know too much about the story, and I am totally open to a movie about Buzz Lightyear the fictional character. That’s fine by mean and not too hard to understand.
But now we’ve got a new story trailer, and I’m liking the movie less and less with each subsequent trailer. There’s no “Starman” at all in this one.
I guess I don’t know what I’m expecting from this movie, but a typical adventure where our hero teams up with a squad of rando losers in order to save the day wasn’t one of them. That seems less a story about something and more just story filler. Also, and perhaps I’ll take flak about this from the millions of people who read this blog, but I already hat that robotic cat.
I’ve really taken a hard stance in recent years against animated animal sidekicks. Movies don’t need that crutch!
Anyway, Lightyear comes to theaters on June 17.

More Pacific Rim: Black, If That’s Your Thing
Did you know that Netflix has a cartoon set in the Pacific Rim universe? They do! And the first season was pretty good, if I remember correctly. Definitely worth a watch. Especially since a second season is coming.
I definitely remember enjoying the first season. The animation on the Jaegers is definitely cool. Though there’s zero connection to the movies. This might even take place years after the movies? I don’t quite remember. But a trailer is a trailer, especially on a Monday like this one.
Pacific Rim: Black returns for season 2 on April 19.

There’s a Bob’s Burgers Movie Coming
I am still shocked at how long-lived network cartoons are these days. I guess because The Simpsons is never ending, every single follow-up cartoon with some success will also last forever. They’re still making new episodes of Family Guy, American Dad and, of course, Bob’s Burgers. But only one of those three is getting a theatrical film!
I watched Bob’s Burgers way back in the beginning, but I haven’t seen an episode in years. Same with Family Guy and American Dad. I just moved away from those cartoons. But people love it, and a movie is coming, and it looks pretty good. Here’s hoping for the best!
The Bob’s Burgers Movie arrives in theaters on May 27.
