My 6 Favorite Episodes of Batman: The Animated Series

Batman: The Animated Series has been getting a lot of attention recently because a big full-series DVD collection came out. Like most comic book geeks, I was a huge fan of the cartoon when it came out in the 1990s, a staple of my after school entertainment. So how about a trip down memory lane for my favorite episodes?

BTAS Episode List 01

He is the night

This isn’t a list of the best episodes of the series. And i’m going to try to base this list less on hindsight and more on my own memories from when I was a kid glued to the TV screen. There are three important facts that one needs to know before checking out my list of favorite B:TAS episodes: 1.) I don’t care about the Joker, so his episodes meant little to me; 2.) I was an idiot as a kid, and didn’t fully appreciate gems like Heart of Ice; and 3.) I loved anything with Robin in it.

With those factoids out of the way, let’s dive into my favorite episodes from when I was a kid! And feel free to share your own favorite episodes in the comments!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/10/18

If anybody is curious what to get me for Christmas, I will gladly accept an infinite number of official Multiple Man action figures. We now live in a world where they exist, and I need to embrace and celebrate that fact.

Other than that, pretty solid batch of comics this week! Batman, Runaways and X-23 deliver the goods, like usual, but the battle for best comic came down to a delightfully fun Iceman — featuring the first in-canon team up of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends — and the mind-warpingly terrific first issue of Grant Morrison’s The Green Lantern. I gave Comic Book of the Week to GL because it’s just slightly more momentous.

Meanwhile, is anybody watching that Titans TV show? I don’t have the DC Streaming Service thing, but I might check it out if anybody has good things to say about Titans. Having a legitimate live action Robin storyline is not something I can pass up.

Comic Reviews: Batman #58, The Green Lantern #1, Iceman #3, Runaways #15 and X-23 #6.

I Should Rewatch Batman: The Animated Series

I’m old enough to have watched Batman: The Animated Series when it was on TV after school. I still remember watching the rare prime time special episode. It was a great show, and a complete collection came out on DVD recently.

So how about an Honest Trailer?

Now that’s a fun takedown of a beloved show! I should do a list of my favorite episodes, though they’ll probably all be Robin-related.

Hench-Sized Comic Reviews – 10/20/18

Happy New Daredevil Season Weekend, everybody! I’m up to my eyeballs in new Daredevil episodes, and it’s pretty grand. I’ll try to get a review post up next week. But until then, how about some comics? Not many this week, or at least, not as many as I should have read.

We’ve got new Batman, new Runaways and new Mr. & Mrs. X, but Comic Book of the Week goes to the return of Unstoppable Wasp! Love me some Unstoppable Wasp!

Wasp Drones 01

Wasp is back, baby!

Meanwhile, I continue to flake out on reading Thor. I dunno what’s happened! I’ve loved Jason Aaron’s Thor since the beginning, but I think the art and the weak storyline of the revived series turned me off, and then we’ve got this current far-in-the-future storyline. I’ll try to read them someday. I also keep failing at reading Nightwing’s new status quo. I should get into that too.

Comic Reviews: Batman #57, Mr. & Mrs. X #4, Runaways #14 and The Unstoppable Wasp #1.

The CW Batwoman Looks Exceptional!

Our first official look at The CW’s costumed Batwoman is here, and I think she looks great! That’s actor Ruby Rose under the cowl, and she’ll be debuting later this year in the next big crossover of The CW superhero shows.

Batwoman Costume Reveal 01

Batwoman is also going to get her own series sometime next year, which is pretty darn cool. I’m a big Batwoman fan, and, of course, am a big fan of LGBTQ representation and diversity. I think it was a neat decision to have Batwoman show up in the Arrowverse instead of Batman. It’s a cool choice.

Of course, I stopped watching all Arrowverse shows a year or two ago. They just weren’t for me anymore. If you’re still a fan, by all means, enjoy yourself.

Though I will be checking out all this Batwoman stuff, for sure!
