The Batman Still Looks Darn Good!
A new trailer for The Batman arrived yesterday like a late Christmas present. Just out of the blue, poof! New Batman trailer. I guess that’s how the world works these days, always in mysterious ways. It’s another great trailer, this one showing off a lot more Catwoman and Riddler. In face, this is probably a trailer to avoid if you want to start avoiding any and all spoilers. Some plot points of the movie do get spoiled in this trailer, I would say.
I think The Batman is my most anticipated movie of the upcoming year. I know Marvel has a lot of good films coming out — like Thor: Love and Thunder — but The Batman is a new, darker, grittier take on the Dark Knight. And I like a good, fresh take on Batman. It’s just an innate feeling, possibly in all of us. So I’m excited to see how they pull this off, and if perhaps we’ll get a new, more open Batman movie franchise going forward.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/18/21
Well it happened. I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home. And it was amazing! It was spectacular! Oh man, it was better than I had any possible guess! No bloat. No wrong turns. Just pure greatness! Expect my full review on Wednesday, like usual.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Robin & Batman #2 because I am a sucker for some great Robin stories. There are a lot of such stories this week, but I prefer classic Batman and Robin stuff to all the Robins being a team.
Meanwhile, I started playing the Guardians of the Galaxy video game and it’s a lot of fun. Nothing groundbreaking or innovative, just a really fun, interactive story about the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s neat. Also, I regret to report that I have finally dropped Wonder Girl. It’s just not for me.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/11/21
By this time next week, I will have seen Spider-Man: No Way Home and none of the spoilers will haunt me anymore! The wait is getting pretty unbearable! But thankfully, we’ve got some fun comics like Power Rangers, Batman and Inferno to keep us occupied.
Comic Book of the Week goes to One-Star Squadron #1 for a fun little debut issue. Also, sometimes I just need to give Power Rangers a break from winning all the time.
Meanwhile, I finished Arcane on Netflix and it is phenomenal! Highly recommended! Possibly my show of the year. Arcane is what every video game adaptation wishes it could be. They take the characters and settings of League of Legends and actually build a really great story, juggling multiple characters, multiple arcs, multiple great moments, while still remaining true to the characters. The visuals are also out of this world.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers. I’m currently home with my family enjoying a nice, big meal. But there are still movie trailers and superheroes to enjoy! In fact, how about you check out the first official trailer for DC League of Super-Pets?
This movie is apparently not what I expected. I thought this would actually feature DC’s wide menagerie of super animals. But nope! It’s apparently just Krypto the Super Dog and then a bunch of brand new, original super-powered animals. Weird choice.
Why would you make this movie and not include the real Ace the Bat-Hound? Or Jumpa the Wonder Kangaroo? Or Streaky the Supercat? What the heck are they even making?
DC League of Super-Pets arrives in theaters in May.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/20/21
Comic books, comic books, we all love comic books! Good week of good, ground-breaking comics this week. And surprisingly, no Marvel comics on my pile! Just some quality DC, like Nightwing and Son of Kal-El, and then some quality Power Rangers.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #117 for a fantastic conclusion to Fear State! All of the characters have strong moments, and I really enjoyed the very finale of the story. This Batman run ends on a definite high note for me.
Meanwhile, against all odds, I’m watching Hit-Monkey on Hulu! I didn’t even realize this show actually got made until that first trailer came out a month ago. I thought for sure it had fallen by the wayside, like that Tigra/Dazzler cartoon. But Hit-Monkey is actually really fun. Definitely recommended.
