DC Fandome Delivered the Good Trailers!
DC Fandome was yesterday and I waited until today to share the trailers because reasons. I was simply in no rush to get them posted, since every other comic book geek website did a lot with them, so it’s not like I’m some unique resource. But I still like sharing trailers and my thoughts on those trailers, so here’s a bunch of the good ones I’m excited about from DC Fandome!
Let’s kick things off with the granddaddy of all anticipated trailers: The Batman.
This is the movie everybody is excited about, and this trailer delivered! It’s everything we could want (sans Robin), and the movie looks great! This trailer is a little more scattershot than last year’s teaser trailer, but it’s still fun. I love how the movie looks, I love the tone. The fighting looks great, the Batmobile looks great, the Batsuit looks great. Everything looks great!
Though part of me felt a little weird watching this trailer. Like…we are all so excited for this new Batman reboot…and yet it’s the fourth modern cinematic Batman. The Christopher Nolan movies were great. People like Batfleck. But, y’know…I guess we’ll just do it all again!
Hopefully this time we get a proper Robin.
Next up is the Peacemaker TV show on HBO Max.
I like the look of this one too! Suicide Squad is definitely going to go down as one of my favorite movies of the year, so this show should be a hoot! I am all in favor of John Cena becoming as big a movie presence as Dwayne Johnson, and this show will hopefully be a much bigger hit than Suicide Squad.
We got our first look at Black Adam.
Looks OK to me, though I’m still not sure how this movie is going to work. What is the plot going to be? Black Adam fights the Justice Society? I also can’t help but laugh at the Rock saying, “the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change”. That’s such a weird phrase. There is no real DC Universe in the movies anymore, so is there really a hierarchy of power?
I still don’t think we’re ever going to get Shazam vs. Black Adam on the big screen…
There was also a teaser for The Flash.
First of all, that little bit of chest hair and the choker on Ezra Miller is kinda gross. But maybe that’s just me. I’m not particularly excited about The Flash. I think it’s going to be a really weird film. And having Michael Keaton return as Batman doesn’t really mean anything to me, to be honest. But hey, kudos to them all for actually getting this movie made.
Let’s switch to some video games before we wrap up.
I’m very excited for Gotham Knights.
As you all know, I’m a huge Robin fan. So a game where you play the various Robins — including Tim Drake as actual Robin — is a dream come true! Arkham-style gameplay, combined with co-op campaign, combined with Robin as a playable character, combined with costume building? Can. Not. Wait!
Likewise, I’m super excited about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
I have no idea what this game is going to be like. Also co-op? Also Arkham-style gameplay? I have no idea! But it looks very flashy in this cinematic trailer. So that’s good enough.
I think all of these things are going to arrive to our lives in 2022. It’ll be a long wait, but it’ll also be here soon enough. It’s all very exciting!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/9/21
Interesting week for comics this week! My only Big Two comics are two of the biggest comics ever: Batman and Amazing Spider-Man. I mix that up with some Power Rangers greatness and a peek at a Comixology Original by Scott Snyder, with We Have Demons!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #12 for another phenomenal issue! Heck, this issue is still just the set-up for the next big event, but it’s so much fun to read! Ryan Parrott is a master of weaving interesting character drama, and he butts a lot of really fun heads together in this issue.
Meanwhile, I finally watched Invincible on Amazon Prime and that show was just perfect! I’ve only read the first chunk or so of the actual comic, and a lot of that was covered in this first season. So that was fun. But the show itself is a real stand out. Everything is so well-crafted, and the showrunners (and probably Robert Kirkman himself) did a great job condensing everything into a workable TV show. Highly recommended. I also enjoyed the season finale for What If…? Expect my full review and thoughts on Wednesday.

Happy vacation, everybody! Vacation for me, that is. I’m finally taking a week off from work for the first time this year, and oh man, I needed it. I need a week to just relax and do not much of anything. Thankfully, I’ve got the likes of Batman, X-Men and X-Corp to kick it off.
Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men: Onslaught Revelation for a truly excellent and exciting end to this chapter of the story. I have loved Way of X, more so than I thought I would, and the first part of Sy Spurrier’s X-Men epic has come to an exciting end!
Meanwhile, I don’t have much planned for my vacation. Can’t exactly travel anywhere. I’ll go visit my parents, I’ve got a dentist’s appointment, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage will come out at the end of the week. That should be fun. Mostly I’ll just relax and spend some more time playing No Man’s Sky. It’s also pretty fun!
Comic Reviews: Batman #113, Nightwing #84, X-Corp #5, X-Men #3 and X-Men: Onslaught Revelation #1.

Exciting news, Robin fans! DC and Warner Bros are going to make Duke Thomas into a real Robin! He’s not going to be cast to the side as just The Signal. Duke Thomas gets to really be Batman’s sidekick Robin.
And it’s going to happen in a cartoon about sentient Bat-vehicles! Because that’s the world we live in.
So the show is called Batwheels, and it’s going to basically mash-up all the Bat-vehicles with the movie Cars…though not officially, obviously. They’re just getting the Cars treatment. We’ve got the Batmobile, Batgirl’s motorcycle, Robin’s Redbird car, the Batwing, and a Batman monster truck, because monster trucks are cool.
You can read more about the whole thing, and the voice cast, here.
I’m mostly interested in the fact that Robin will be Duke Thomas in this show. Not Redbird, but Robin. Because Batman and Robin are regular in this new cartoon, it’s just that their vehicles are going to…come alive, maybe? Or are secretly alive, like Toy Story? I do not know.
But yeah, check it out, Duke Thomas as a kid Robin, in full costume! And that’s Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, so kudos on that as well. I’m just excited at the new Robin. I’m ready for Damian Wayne to move on and for someone else to assume the mantle. Hopefully this is a sign of changes to come elsewhere. Granted, the comic book Duke Thomas might be too advanced in his superhero career to be Robin? The Signal is working for him, I guess?
I dunno. I just think it’s neat. I want a new Robin!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/11/21
Oh what a week, what a week. Where does one even begin? How about by just diving into some comic reviews, like Batman and a new Black Manta series? Sounds good to me!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #11 because this comic can do no wrong. Holy cow is this good drama and good storytelling!
Meanwhile, I did finally get around to watch Centaurworld on Netflix. That show was a hoot and a half! Not much else going on with me right now. I’m playing some old video games and trying to find some new, interesting shows to watch. Just livin’ that 2021 lifestyle…
Comic Reviews: Batman #112, Black Manta #1, Champions #9 and Mighty Morphin #11.
