Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/24/24
What a week, what a glorious week! If you haven’t heard the news, my Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter hit its funding goal this week, so I’m on cloud nine! And then the world went ahead and gave me so many of my favorite current comics, like Nightwing, Superman and Transformers!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #6 because every issue of this series is just mind-blowingly cool!
Meanwhile, I’ve been making my way through various TV shows lately, like Lessons in Chemistry and, finally, Twisted Metal. I’m still playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder and taking my sweet time at on that. No other new games have really caught my attention. So just sort of chilling my way through some OK games and shows these days.
Comic Reviews: Cobra Commander #2, Nightwing #111, Superman #11, Transformers #5, Ultimate Spider-Man #2 and Wonder Woman #6.

Happy New Year, everybody! It’s 2024 and all is still pretty crappy with the world. It’s hopefully going to be a good year for me in terms of making comics. I’ve got some fun announcements coming up in that regard! But for now, let’s deal with normal comics, like Batman, Fantastic Four and the start of the Fall of the House of X.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Birds of Prey #5 for another fun story chapter, even if the change in art is very, very jarring.
Meanwhile, I’m still meandering my way through Project Zomboid, which taps into my love of pedantry in video games. I just finished off the new season of Rick and Morty, and that was a hoot! And this weekend I’m binging Carol and the End of the World on Netflix. I’ve got high hopes for this show.
Comic Reviews: Batman #141, Birds of Prey #5, Captain America #5, Fall of the House of X #1 and Fantastic Four #15.

Only a few more weeks until Christmas! That doesn’t particularly mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it definitely works to open up this comic review article. We’ve also got new issues of the likes of Batman and Transformers to enjoy.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Birds of Prey #4 for an action and character-focused issue that really kicks things up a notch.
Meanwhile, I’m almost done with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but mostly that game was all about building my own lightsaber. I think I should share my endgame creation! I’m also finally working my way through the fourth season of Harley Quinn. It’s not as strong a show as it was at the beginning, but it’s still enjoyable.
Comic Reviews: Batman #140, Birds of Prey #4, Fantastic Four #14, Thunderbolts #1, Transformers #3 and X-Men #29.

Last week we had Marvel Trailer Thursday, and now we’ve got DC Trailer Tuesday. DC is not about to be undone. They’ve got their own movie and cartoon coming up. Fancy that.
First up is a new trailer for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.
I’m definitely looking forward to this one. I very much enjoyed the first Aquaman movie. It was a big, wild and crazy mess of a movie. And this sequel looks just as big and crazy. That should be fun, right? Will this movie defeat the superhero fatigue that killed The Marvels? I guess we’ll find out!
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes to theaters on Dec. 22.
Next up is a delightful new standalone cartoon movie, Merry Little Batman!
We’ve been hearing about this for months now, and this trailer is our first actual look at what the end product is going to be. I think it looks delightful! Funny, silly, with great voice acting; Merry Little Batman might be the sleeper hit of the season!
Merry Little Batman comes to Amazon Prime on Dec. 8.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/11/23
I’m in a very easy going mood this week when it comes to comics. Had a lot of really enjoyable readsthis week. Nothing really blew my mind, but they were fun reads nonetheless, like new issues of Batman and G.O.D.S.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Transformers #2 because it was a solid issue, though I think all of the comics I read this week were equally good reads. It was a bit of a coin flip this week.
Meanwhile, I beat Spider-Man 2 and very much enjoyed the game. The only real detraction I have is that it felt short and light. I probably could have beat it much faster than I did. I think these games should come out more frequently, just by reusing the map and character elements already created. Beyond that, I saw The Marvels opening night and very much enjoyed the film. To hell with the haters! Come back on Wednesday for my thoughts and full review on The Marvels.
Comic Reviews: Batman #139, Birds of Prey #3, G.O.D.S. #2 and Transformers #2.
