Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/13/20

Holy cow! The time has come! For the first time in months, since the start of the pandemic lockdown, I finally have enough comics released to do a proper bunch of reviews! Not just one review. Not just two reviews. But five full comic book reviews this week! Huzzah!

Comic Book of the Week goes to an exciting issue of Legion of Super-Heroes, which brought a lot of action and a really fun ending. Also, Gold Lantern!

Why didn’t Geoff Johns think of this?!

Meanwhile, I’ve been doing a lot of tpb reading recently. I read through almost all of the remaining Atomic Robo books. They were good, but not as great as Robo back at the beginning. I recently ordered the Ultimate Adventures tpb for cheap on Amazon. Remember that bit of weirdness? The Ultimate Batman and Robin from Marvel? It was still fun! Next I’m going to try Money Shot by Tim Seeley. I will always have a soft spot for Seeley because he was a backer of my first Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter!

Comic Reviews: Batman #92, Go Go Power Rangers #32, Legion of Super-Heroes #6, Lois Lane #11 and New Mutants #10.

Holy Cow, It’s Our First Look at the New Horizon Game!

Yesterday was the Playstation 5’s big debut, showing off the console itself and multiple games. I was super-excited at the reveal of the next Spider-Man game starring Miles Morales…but developers have since explained that it won’t be a full sequel. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is instead an enhanced edition of the regular Spider-Man game with some added Miles Morales content. Darn.

So while that is a bit of a let down, our first look at Horizon Forbidden West looks legit!

Horizon Zero Dawn was an amazing game and one of the first I played when I splurged on a PS4 a couple years ago. It’s a massive sandbox game, which I will, with excellent gameplay and cool characters. We all knew a sequel was coming, and it looks great! Forbidden West looks to expand upon the world in an obvious way, with a new story about some sort of plague.

Looks damn good! Until tomorrow, when we’ll probably find out it’s just a remastered and enhanced edition of the first game…

Holy Cow, It’s Our First Look at the Next Spider-Man Game!

The Sony Playstation 5 is apparently right around the corner and a sequel to that amazing Spider-Man game is going to be one of the launch titles! And it’s going to star Miles Morales! And there’s a teaser trailer right now!

Great! Awesome! Can’t wait! Granted, I’m probably not going to buy a PS5 at launch, but this is so cool! The first Spider-Man game was a masterpiece of greatness, and I can only imagine the sequel will be even better and bigger and cooler! And having Miles as the main character offers up so much potential! New powers, new struggles, new supporting characters, new villains and hopefully a grand new story just as awesome and impactful as the last one.

And all of this is supposed to come out by the end of the year! Fancy that!

My 6 Favorite Time Travelers

Happy Bill & Ted Week! Actually, it was really only Bill & Ted Day on Tuesday (June 9…6/9…excellent!), what with that new movie trailer and everything. But I felt that was a good excuse to celebrate time travelers! There are so many time travelers in fiction, and I like a bunch of them!

Just a couple of cool dudes hanging out with their cool car

Obviously, this list is going to be time traveler specific. I’m not just talking about any character who has traveled through time. The movie Avengers have done that, and the comic Avengers have done it countless times. Nope, I’m talking about characters whose thing is traveling through time, or at least it’s a major part of their whole deal. I’m fun like that!

Join me after the jump for my favorite time travelers. And feel free to share your own favorites in the comments.

Sweet Bill & Ted Trailer

No sooner do I make a post about a new Bill & Ted: Face the Music poster than we end up getting the first trailer after all. Fancy that. I should have just been more patient.

Anyway, here’s the trailer. It’s fine.

Nothing really blows me away about the trailer. Both actors are definitely showing their age. Nice to see the Grim Reaper coming back, same actor there as well.

It all looks fine and I remain cautiously optimistic.

Bill & Ted: Face the Music is scheduled to come out on Aug. 21. Fingers crossed that actually ahppens.
