Top 6 Russian Superheroes (Ready for a Black Widow Sequel)

The Black Widow movie is coming out this weekend and I’ve already got my ticket for the early showing! I can’t wait for a new Marvel movie after this two year absence. What can I say? I’m an unapologetic Marvel fan boy! I’m excited for the film and very excited for what it might introduce going forward.

We may get a Black Widow 2 one of these days.

So many Black Widows!

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but everybody seems pretty convinced that Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will take over as the MCU’s new Black Widow. Sounds like a good idea to me. There are a ton of different directions to take such a character, with the most obvious being a sequel that sees Yelena go off on her own Russian adventures. If that’s the case, Marvel is going to need to dust off some of their classic Russian superheroes and villains to make a showing. The Black Widow movie will introduce Red Guardian, so what about the rest?

Join me after the jump for an enclave of Marvel’s Russian characters who are just waiting for a sequel opportunity!

One Last Black Widow Trailer!

The Black Widow movie is a month away and Marvel decided to release one final trailer. Just for kicks and giggles, I suppose. Every trailer has been fun and the movie looks very exciting. Here’s hoping the movie has been worth the wait!

Black Widow, new Black Widow, Taskmaster, Red Guardian; there’s a lot to love about this movie. I’m hoping for a big, exciting spy/action thriller. And I know Marvel and Scarlett Johansson can pull it off. Just gotta wait another month!

Black Widow comes to theaters and Disney+ on July 9.

Get Hyped for Them There Marvel Movies!

It being a random Monday, Marvel has released a sizzle reel trailer to show off their awesomeness and reveal some upcoming dates for new movies. Obviously this is a ploy to get us all to go back to movie theaters…and it works like a charm!

This sizzle reel also features the first footage from The Eternals, which comes out this November. We’ve also got the first logos for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels, the sequels to Black Panther and Captain Marvel respectively.

So yeah, big freakin’ deal, I’d say! Trailer looks great! Marvel has never skimped on those. I’m excited for all the upcoming movies, and I’m already back in the theaters, so you best believe I’ll be seeing all of these upcoming movies on the big screen.

It’s gonna be a busy couple of months. We’ve got Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Eternals and Spider-Man: Far From Home all coming out in the back half of this year. Of 2021!

And next year, we’ve got Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels!

Then, so far, we’ve got Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for 2023.

Should be a good couple of years!

How About Some Great Marvel Trailers?

A bunch of trailers have been arriving on the internet in the past week and I’m severely behind in sharing them! But I’m going to try to get to all of them at some point or another. Let’s start with the absolute best with a pair of Marvel trailers!

We’ve got a new trailer for the Black Widow movie, which comes to both theaters and Disney+ on July 9!

The movie still looks great! Looks to be another exciting and fun Marvel movie. And considering how well Godzilla vs. Kong is doing in theaters, there’s a lot of hope for the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it returns in three months. That’s plenty of time for vaccines to settle in and for this whole pandemic thing to blow over. High hopes indeed!

Next up is a trailer for the Loki TV show, which arrives on Disney+ on June 11!

I’m not as taken with Loki as the rest of the world, but this still looks good and fun! Even Owen Wilson looks fun! So here’s hoping for another successful Marvel TV show. WandaVision was adored. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is doing really well, I think. There’s a good chance Loki will be even better!

So yeah, Marvel still has products coming out and they should all be pretty fun! Hooray for having more things to watch and enjoy!

A Metric Ton of New Information on the Avengers Video Game

Crystal Dynamics held a big event yesterday for their upcoming Avengers video game, and they included a metric ton of videos and new information. We’ve now got our biggest and best looks yet at gameplay and story. It all looks pretty great!

Let’s start with a story trailer.

So it looks like the villain is going to be M.O.D.O.K. and he’s going to create an army of Super Adaptoid robots who will be empowered with Inhuman powers — the better to provide a ton of powerful robots to beat up. The story seems simple enough. It’s the rest of the game that’s apparently going to be really cool.

And here’s some additional pure gameplay footage of Thor.

So let’s see. It looks like there’s going to be a lot of battling super-powered robots, with some classic comic villains thrown in. I’ve seen Abomination in at least one of these trailers. And we know Taskmaster is in the game somewhere.

It looks like base building is going to be a part of the game, as we’ll need to “rebuild the helicarrier”. And we knew outfit and gear management was going to be a thing, allowing us to customize the look and loadout of our superheroes.

Here’s a longer video even. Some stuff might be repeated.

These videos definitely make me more excited about the game than I was before. It definitely does not appear to be as ‘on rails’ as I’ve been fearing. But I’m also not entirely sure this game is going to be much more than going out to a location and beating up a seemingly endless supply of faceless, nameless robots. But hell, maybe that will be awesome. I know I’ll probably really enjoy the costume/loadout aspect of the game, and the base building. The story looks like it’ll be pretty pure Marvel superheroics, so that’s fine.

And there’s plenty of room for expansion. They’ve already said they’re going to bring in new superheroes over time, like Ant-Man. And surely if this is an ongoing game that live updates over time, there will be other stories. Maybe season 2 will be Galactus or Skrulls or something.

Suffice to say, this is our best look yet at the game, and it looks bigger and better than anything we’ve seen about it before. I’m pretty satisfied with all of this.

The game is due out on Sept. 4…just in time for my birthday!
