Who could have imagined that Doctor Strange would eventually be the elder statesman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? His first film was really good, but hardly star-making material. But then he’s been a major player in Avengers: Infinity War and Spider-Man: No Way Home. So here comes his official sequel, ready to make big bank as another Marvel hit!
Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great.
I really enjoyed this film, especially by the end. I’ll admit to being a bit hazy in the first half. But the madness and the creativity of the second half really won me over and I had a great time overall. Granted, I’m a sucker for all these Marvel projects. I fully admit that and have no shame in it. It’ll be a cold day in the world when I dislike a Marvel movie or TV show. Thankfully, that day has not yet arrived!

This Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors cartoon is moving forward, and I support anything that will give us an animated Squirrel Girl. Granted, I think they should just make Ryan North’s Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comic into a 1-1 adaptation, but that might just be me.
I’m mostly surprised at the continued use of Inferno, the Inhuman. How is that guy still a thing? Not only was he front and center on that failure to turn the Inhumans into the next big thing, but he’s got generic fire powers! Does Marvel really not have any worthwhile male teen superheroes? Isn’t Ghost Rider a teenager?
I dunno. Maybe watch, maybe don’t. We’ll see.
By the time you’re reading this, I am preparing for an incoming shipment of Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novels! The books I raised money for last Spring will be here by the end of the month, and my partner and I are preparing all the packages to ship out to everybody who ordered a copy!
Haven’t ordered your copy yet? Don’t worry, they’ll be available soon!
Until then, we’ve got a bunch of regular, awesome comics to enjoy! And not that I was going for any special theme, but this week it’s all badass solo lady comics, and one comic about a filthy hobo. Good times. Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Hawkeye for wrapping up its first storyline in style.
Kate Bishop actually made two appearances this week! She makes a quick cameo in America #1, but unfortunately, I wasn’t as big a fan of that new series.
Comic Reviews: America #1, The Dregs #2, Harley Quinn #15, Hawkeye #4, and Unstoppable Wasp #3.
