6 Thoughts on the First Season of Ahsoka (Review)
Another Star Wars TV show has come and gone and I was very excited for this one. Like everyone else in the fandom, I had no faith in Ahsoka Tano when she was first introduced as the kiddie character in a new Star Wars cartoon way back in the day. But she’s now one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters, and I was very excited for her show. Now that it’s over…meh.
TV Show Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good
Ahsoka Tano is a very fun character and she’s had a great story. And I really like Rosario Dawson’s live action version. But the Ahsoka show was ultimately a bit of a disappointment in the end. I enjoyed the show for the most part and had high hopes, but I’m not overall happy with the final product. It’s well-made, well-acted, has some neat parts; but the first season didn’t really accomplish much, in my opinion.

The Ahsoka TV show is almost over and there’s only one thing I really care about: the secret history and potential futures of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati. I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, so maybe every question on this list has already been answered, but I wrote this list anyway. These characters are super damn cool.
I think everyone agrees that Baylan and Shin are the best part about the Ahsoka show. It’s a good show, it’s fine. But does anybody really care about Sabine getting back to Ezra? I watched all of Rebels, but I really, really don’t care. Should we really be all that concerned about Grand Admiral Thrawn when the sequels exist? No thank you. I want to know more about the super cool, super mysterious dark Force-users who have their own agenda and aren’t super predictable.
So join me after the jump for six questions I have about Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, even if they are super obvious questions.

This is a welcome surprise! There was a big Star Wars Celebration event last night or today or something, and all sorts of Star Wars news is hitting the internet today. Like, Daisy Ridley is going to return as Rey for a new movie where she reforms the Jedi Order?! Wild! And here we’ve got a full trailer for the Ahsoka TV show, which is coming out in August!
Wowzers! Not only do we get more Ahsoka, but they just drop the live action debuts of Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren just like that! With a bit of Ezra and Thrawn to boot! And some orange-bladed lightsaber bad guys, one of whom is Ray freakin’ Stevenson?!
Fanboy giddiness aside, this trailer didn’t do too much for me. It all looks cool, sure. But what really makes it stand apart from anything else that has featured a Jedi hero taking on some red-hued lightsaber bad guys? It’s a bunch of general Star Wars action. And all of it is undercut by the sequel trilogy set after this, since we know where it’s all going to lead, and that’s nowhere fun. But I suppose I have some amount of faith that they can pull this off. Or maybe I’ll just have to be happy that we get an Ahsoka show with live action Rebels.
I did put together a List of Six not too long ago about things I want to see in this Ahsoka show. Let’s see if any pan out.

6 Things I Want to See in the Ahsoka Tano TV Show
I watched the very excellent Tales of the Jedi cartoon series on Disney+ this weekend and it was a hoot! Six short and very sweet episodes showing off key moments in the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, the latter of whom received some real depth to his complex character. Great little show, and hopefully we get some more Jedi Tales going forward. And who doesn’t love some more Ahsoka Tano content?
The next Star Wars show we’re getting, I think, will be the live action Ahsoka show starring Rosario Dawson. We know it’s going to feature Ezra Bridger from Rebels and Grand Admiral Thrawn. But what else are we going to get? Personally, I’m not all that interested in seeing the Ahsoka show focused too much on Ezra’s return. He was never my favorite character in Rebels. Though now that I think about it…was Ahsoka my favorite character in Rebels?! Yeah, probably. But she’s got a lot of material to draw from and plenty of stuff that could appear in her show!
Join me after the jump for my hopes and dreams for the live action Ahsoka Tano TV show! And feel free to share your own in the comments.
