6 Things I Want to See in the Ahsoka Tano TV Show

I watched the very excellent Tales of the Jedi cartoon series on Disney+ this weekend and it was a hoot! Six short and very sweet episodes showing off key moments in the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, the latter of whom received some real depth to his complex character. Great little show, and hopefully we get some more Jedi Tales going forward. And who doesn’t love some more Ahsoka Tano content?

Let there be show!

The next Star Wars show we’re getting, I think, will be the live action Ahsoka show starring Rosario Dawson. We know it’s going to feature Ezra Bridger from Rebels and Grand Admiral Thrawn. But what else are we going to get? Personally, I’m not all that interested in seeing the Ahsoka show focused too much on Ezra’s return. He was never my favorite character in Rebels. Though now that I think about it…was Ahsoka my favorite character in Rebels?! Yeah, probably. But she’s got a lot of material to draw from and plenty of stuff that could appear in her show!

Join me after the jump for my hopes and dreams for the live action Ahsoka Tano TV show! And feel free to share your own in the comments.

6. Reunion with parents

Does she have siblings?

In the first episode of Tales of the Jedi, we met Ahsoka’s parents! Pav-ti and Nak-il seemed like pretty nice people and pretty doting parents. It must have sucked when Plo Koon showed up and took Ahsoka away to become a Jedi. So when Ahsoka left the Jedi Order and went out into the universe, did she ever look up her parents and have a family reunion? That might be a fun scene! Maybe a flashback, or maybe she finds them in the present day of the show. Either way, those characters exist now, and that episode could have been a set up for something nice in the live action show.

5. The death of Rex

He’s lived a good life

People want to see old man Rex on the Ahsoka show, and I’m all for that. Teumera Morrison seems game to do everything needed of him by Star Wars, so I’m sure he’d be more than happy to play Rex in live action. But I want the show to go a step further. Give us the death of Captain Rex. He’s an old man, he’s lived a good life. Don’t just have him cameo, let’s see his passing. It’ll be heartfelt, it’ll be emotional, it’ll be super sad, especially if he’s used freely and awesomely in the show. Let’s have some real finality.

4. Din Djarin cameo

He’s gotta be everywhere

Do I ‘ship Ashoka Tano and Din Djarin? Is it crazy to ship Star Wars characters? With the exception of Han and Leia and Anakin and Padme, romance is never much of a big deal across all of Star Wars. I’m no longer all that salty that Finn and Rey weren’t a couple. But regardless of shipping potential, I just want to see the Mandalorian and Grogu show up more often. Maybe, like with Book of Boba Fett, we can have major character moments happen for Mando and Grogu in an entirely different show? Actually, now that I think about it…

3. No Din Djarin cameo

Nah, he doesn’t

How weird was it that the big reunion of Mando and Grogu happened in the Book of Boba Fett? How weird is it that their reunion happened so quickly after they parted? Anybody who skips Book of Boba Fett in favor of just watching The Mandalorian straight from season 2 into season 3 is going to be so confused. So honestly, now that I’ve thought about it, I don’t want either of them to cameo in Ahsoka’s show. Leave them out of it. If all these Star Wars shows are building to a crossover adventure against Grand Admiral Thrawn, maybe keep them apart for now, making the crossover feel bigger when it arrives down the line. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

2. Luke/Ahsoka first meeting flashback

We all want this

One character I definitely want making a cameo is Luke Skywalker. We had a brief scene of Luke and Ahsoka hanging out in Book of Boba Fett (a show that was, again, ostensibly about Boba Fett), but that wasn’t enough! What was their first meeting like? What did they say? How have they talked about Anakin? Those are scenes that should be a ton of fun, and the Ahsoka show is the perfect opportunity to show us, even if they have to be flashbacks. If they’re going to keep de-aging Mark Hamill, then let’s get these important scenes taken care of while he’s still with us.

1. A non-lightsaber villain

IG-44 anybody?

The simple fact is, Ahsoka won’t have anybody to lightsaber fight in her show. The Inquisitors have become a popular fallback villain in a lot of programs, but I have quickly grown bored with these one-dimensional, bargain basement Siths. Thankfully, they should all be gone by the time the show is set. And I, for one, don’t want to see them brought back or revived or anything of the like to face off against Ahsoka. The show should find some other opponent for her to face, someone that doesn’t have a contrived reason to carry a lightsaber. We all love a good lightsaber duel, but this show needs to be even more creative. How many chumps has Ahsoka bested in lightsaber combat? She doesn’t need another one just to jive the show a bit.
