Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/3/26

Buy my book! Buy my book! Nothing like a good reference to the 30-year-old TV show The Critic to kick off a bout of comic book reviews, eh? But seriously, go check out the Kickstarter for my new comic, Cover Bard #1! We’re almost at our goal and you could be the awesome person that gets us over the top! Imagine how much fun that will feel?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Amazing Spider-Man #1,000 for hitting such a nice milestone, and for also being a swell comic.

A wild transformation for Aunt May

Meanwhile, I’m going to wrap up the Wolverine game this weekend. Solid play. I may or may not do a review. I’ll definitely have a review up next week on my thoughts on the first season of Lanterns! Loving the show! Can’t wait for the finale! Beyond that, I’m watching the latest season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and reading Harley & Ivy: Life & Crimes by Erica Henderson. Both quite fun so far. I love Henderson’s artwork.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #1000, Bizarro: Year None #3 and Uncanny X-Men #36.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/27/26

I was pretty busy this week covering a pretty cool attempted murder trial for my day job as a mild mannered newspaper reporter, so I didn’t read too many comics. Really just grabbed the ones I was most interested in from DC this week, because they continue to be amazing — comics like Absolute Wonder Woman and Bizarro: Year None.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #20 for not only a fun Hawkman spotlight but also just a damn cool superhero fight comic!

I promise, I’m not!

Meanwhile, no change in my love of Crimson Desert, so not much to report on the video game front. If you’re curious where I fall on the GTA6 controversies, know that I will definitely be pre-ordering the $100 Ultimate Edition as soon as I pay off some bills and have $100 scrounged up. I fully expect this game to be monumental and definitely don’t mind paying extra to get some bonus cosmetics. Beyond that, I enjoyed the second season of The Pitt and hope to watch Widow’s Bay soon. Oh! And I’ll be seeing Supergirl this weekend.

Comic Rating: Absolute Superman #20, Absolute Wonder Woman #21 and Bizarro: Year None #2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/4/26

I’m back with more comic book reviews! I missed last week because I was busy and sick, and I missed the Superman/Spider-Man team-up! The shame is immense. But thankfully we’ve got some real bangers this week, like some new Absolute Superman and a new Daredevil run!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Bizarro: Year None #1 for some truly fantastic artwork!

My world is square, so I must spit

Meanwhile, my pals at Very Big Comics have a Kickstarter running for the second volume of the Museum of the Uncanny anthology! These are great creators putting in the good work in the amateur comic trenches, just like me. I had a short story in the first volume! So if you’re a fan of my reviews, please head over and check out Museum of the Uncanny: The Lost Archives and consider backing the project and ordering a copy! Thank you so much!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #18, Batman #8, Bizarro: Year None #1 and Daredevil #1.
