Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/13/25

You guys. This week. Apparently when I got new landlords, they may or may not have cancelled the driveway snowplow contract? Found that out the hard way. Ugh. Anyway, coupla fun comics this week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #15 for a very excellent and proper introduction to the Absolute Joker.

It’s also partly a jungle adventure story

Meanwhile, I’m about halfway through an anime my brother recommended, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. I don’t watch much anime, but have seen some from time to time. Pretty good so far. And then I’m still playing through Astrobot, because I’m in no rush when it comes to video games. I’m also finally reading Sex Criminals by Fraction and Zdarsky after I got the omnibus for Christmas last year. It’s also pretty good so far.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #15 and Amazing Spider-Man #17.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/29/25

Happy American Thanksgiving! The big day was two days ago and I had a really nice meal with family, and that’s why I didn’t read and review many comics this week. Mostly just indulged in my love of the Absolute Comics.

Comic Book of the Week is Absolute Batman #14, which is pretty much the pinnacle of what modern comics should and could be.

Howdy

Meanwhile, I finished all five seasons of You’re the Worst and had a great time! Very enjoyable show. And I splurged on the Black Friday sale for Astrobot on the Playstation 5. Fun platformer so far. Lots of neat Easter Eggs that I mostly understand, because I’ve always been a Playstation man (only missed the PS3). Next up, I’ll be watching the Stranger Things episodes, get into the second season of Hazbin Hotel and will go see Wake Up Dead Man this weekend!

There’s also still time to order your copy of LobStar #1! The Kickstarter will end in the week ahead, and my peeps are looking to raise as much money as they can to make more comics!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #14, Absolute Wonder Woman #14 and Infernal Hulk #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/1/25

Happy All Saint’s Day, everybody! Isn’t that the one that comes after Halloween? I don’t know for sure and I don’t have the energy to look it up at this moment. Just know it’s nice. Not a lot of reviews this week, though for anyone interested, I have finally caught up on Power Rangers Prime.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman Annual #1 because Batman beats up some white power shitheads.

Every frame a painting

Meanwhile, I’m still working my way through Ghost of Yotei and enjoying myself. Very fun game. I just finished watching the Jason Momoa show Chief of War, which was cool. Nothing really special, but a solid watch.

Also meanwhile, my comic friends at Very Big Comics have a new Kickstarter coming out in the week ahead: LobStar #1. It’s about a Maine fisherman who gets the powers of the lobster god! It’s a very New England story. Head on over to the Kickstarter preview and sign up, if you could please. The more people they have signed up ahead of launch the better it looks for the Kickstarter algorithm!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/11/25

Welcome to a couple of comic book reviews! It’s been a very busy week at work for me, so I wasn’t able to review everything I might have wanted. And actually, it’s a Scott Snyder heavy week, what with DC K.O. Oh, also, New York Comic-Con is this weekend. I’ve been to that in the distant past! Huzzah!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #13 for the excellent setting up of some hopefully exciting comic bookery.

Bow chicka bow wow

Meanwhile, I’ve got a 3-day weekend for the holiday so I will finally be cracking into Ghost of Yokei! Can’t wait! Though I’ve also barely scratched the surface of Silksong…perhaps I’ll juggle both. I mostly liked the Peacemaker season 2 finale, but I did not like how it ends on nothing but set-ups and cliffhangers that will probably never get answered for who knows how long. What a weird choice.

Also, this week I’m finally introducing Short Reviews! I read the first issue of Robert Kirkman’s takeover of Transformers and I didn’t care enough to give it a full review. So check out my short review at the bottom of this article!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/13/25

I don’t normally post comic reviews from two weeks at a time, but work got really busy at the end of last week and I just didn’t get around to posting the reviews I prepared. So I’ve added a couple reviews to this week’s regular releases, like Absolute Batman and Captain America.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the Batman/Deadpool crossover because I love me a good Marvel/DC crossover project!

I really do think this was a good choice of crossover pair

Meanwhile, I mostly spent the past week replaying some old PC games now that I’ve got a new computer with a fancy new graphics card! It’s been alright. In better news, work has begun on volume 3 of my own comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen! We’re gonna take a big swing with this new threequel and are very excited to make it happen. I love when the creative juices are flowing and I’m writing up a storm with ideas!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #12, Amazing Spider-Man #12, Captain America #3 and Deadpool/Batman #1.
