Grand Theft Auto VI is On The Horizon

We were all young once. We all played Grand Theft Auto V when it came out a decade ago, on our X-Box 360s and whatever. Those were good days, glorious days. And now the time is finally here to begin the proper countdown to Grand Theft Auto VI. Here’s hoping we all live that long!

Welp, looks awesome. Looks exactly how one would expect it to look, and that’s a good thing. Obviously this trailer is all about flavor and style, with a brief look at our new protagonists. And that’s all fine by me.

So yeah, I’m excited. We’ve known we were returning to Vice City for a while now, courtesy of various leaks. And we knew a female protagonist was coming. I’m all for that. And it’s clear that the game is going to lean very heavily into the ‘Florida Man’ insanity that’s developed in Florida since the last Vice City game. Sounds good to me!

I might even try to stay involved in the online community, considering how huge it got for GTA V. I gave up on that early, and then stuck around in Red Dead Redemption 2 Online for a long time, even after it became clear that Rockstar wasn’t doing anything for it.

Grand Theft Auto VI is coming 2025, probably. Hold on to your butts.

Pink Godzilla is Coming

It’s a good time to be a Godzilla fan. I just saw Godzilla Minus One this weekend, and it was great! Awesome monster stuff, and a very touching human story. I teared up in the end! And then we’ve got Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is a really fun show about the Monsterverse. They managed to pull that off!

And now we’ve got the first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

It looks pretty crazy. These new Godzilla and Kong films have really gone off the rails since the more grounded first film in 2014. And we used up the likes of Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah ages ago (still waiting on my fave, Anguirus!). So I guess they’re going to team up and take on a balding orangutan villain in Middle Earth? I suppose we’ll see!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire comes to theaters on April 12!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/2/23

It’s a quite week for comics, with only a pair of reviews I’m afraid. Works just fine for me! I’ve got a bunch of other stuff of my own brewing, and I can’t wait to share with all you loyal readers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men Blue: Origins #1 because I fully support this retcon and I simply didn’t read much else. I should have got caught back up on other comics, but nah.

He’s gonna regret that suit sooner rather than later

Meanwhile, I’m still meandering my way through Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, except I’m more interested in collecting all the lightsaber and clothing hidden treasures than I am in the story, so the game is just me reading online guides so that I don’t miss any hidden boxes. Oh well.

Comic Reviews: Captain America #3 and X-Men Blue: Origins #1.

Our First Look At Furiosa, the Prequel We Don’t Need

Mad Max: Fury Road is a masterpiece of filmmaking. It’s so damn cool, so damn fun. And rather than make a sequel, we’ve got a prequel about the Furiosa character. Make no mistake, the character is great, but does she need a prequel? Do we really need to see her story when we already know the coolest part?

I think the trailer looks pretty good. But the CGI is very noticeable, especially considering that Fury Road was hyped because of the practical effects. And is Anya Taylor-Joy a good replacement for Charlize Theron? I guess we’ll find out. I’m definitely going to see this movie in the theaters, but this first look is a mixed bag of awesome and hesitant.

Furiosa comes to theaters on May 24.

Did You See This Pokemon Concierge Thing?

This cartoon trailer dropped a week or two ago about Pokemon Concierge, and upcoming, stop motion animated show about a pokemon hotel. It’s crazy! And I only say it’s crazy because, in retrospect, the only thing we’ve ever really seen pokemon do in the past 20+ years is fight one another.

Pokemon is the most profitable and popular pop culture franchise in the entire world. And yet we’ve only ever had one ongoing cartoon show about Pokemon battles, and then that one Detective Pikachu movie. There have been plenty of spin-off games that aren’t about fighting, but those were never as popular as the mainline games. So perhaps, at long last, the pokemon company will be making products that aren’t just animal fighting matches.

Plus, the stop motion animation looks gorgeous! Pokemon Concierge comes to Netflix on Dec. 28.
