Buy My Book: Gamer Girl & Vixen is Now Available!

Great news, everybody! My graphic novel, Gamer Girl & Vixen, is now available to order! After a year of raising money, writing the story, dazzling at the artwork, getting it printed and fulfilling all of our Kickstarter obligations, the first volume of my own, self-published comic is here!

And it’s gorgeous!

I could not be more thrilled with how this turned out. The art is spectacular! It’s colorful and crisp in all the right ways. And I’m still in love with the writing. I love this comic! I am so excited for it!

For those who don’t know, Gamer Girl & Vixen is my first original comic book. It’s written by myself and my writing partner Kristi McDowell, with art by Gemma Moody and lettering by Taylor Esposito.

It’s about two super-villains who meet cute on the rooftops of New York and use their powers to rob celebrities! It’s a fun new LGBTQ love story in a pop culture landscape that is severely lacking in those!

Through two separate Kickstarter campaigns over the past three years, we raised enough money to make a full, 100-page graphic novel. And it’s beautiful. We found a really great printer and the comic looks and feels like a real graphic novel! This isn’t some cheaply printed paperback. This comic will look damn good on your graphic novel shelf!

So head on over to our online store to order your own copy!

And if you want to get a preview before you buy, we offer that as well!

6 Best Wonder Woman Knock-Offs

Superman is the first comic book superhero and obviously the most famous. Superman is as iconic as Mickey Mouse, if not more so. And where there is popularity and fame, there are rip-offs. Comics are filled with Superman knock-offs. Whether it’s Shazam or Hyperion or The Sentry, everybody loves copying Superman (and making lists about it on the Internet).

But what about Wonder Woman? Doesn’t she deserve some off-brand characters? Especially with a new movie coming out this weekend!

WW KO List 01

I hear there’s a movie coming out this weekend

Heck yeah, she does! In the spirit of equality and doing my duty to fill the Internet with more comic book lists, I’ve scoured comicdom to find all the best Wonder Woman rip-offs. Because why should Superman have all the fun of Internet lists? He’s not so great!

Join me after the jump for all the best would-be Wonder Women!

Strong Guy Watch: Beard Alert!

Welcome back to the Strong Guy Watch! I thought this would just be a funny little zinger during Inhumans vs. X-Men, but then friend of the site josta59 pointed out that Strong Guy has made his epic return in the pages of the new Inhumans series Secret Warriors! And so I thought, why not make this an ongoing feature? I do love me some Strong Guy!

And hot damn he looks good with a beard!

Strong Guy Beard 01

Old Man Strong Guy

That’s his only appearance in Secret Wars #2. It’s the final page cliffhanger. Will he have a bigger role in Secret Wars #3? We can only hope! Tune in to the next Strong Guy Watch to find out!

If you’re unfamiliar with Strong Guy Watch, let me get you up to speed. Strong Guy is one of my favorite comic book characters, in large part because he’s the best friend of my all-time favorite comic book character, Multiple Man. A year ago, in the series Death of X, Marvel up and killed Multiple Man for shock value and cannon fodder. I hate that sort of thing. Ugh.

But then a funny little thing happened: Strong Guy showed up for Multiple Man’s impromptu funeral. Makes sense. They’re best friends, right? But Strong Guy wasn’t in any ongoing X-Men comics at the time and hadn’t been seen in years. So someone somewhere at the X-Men editorial office had the forethought to have Strong Guy show up at the funeral.

Then that forethought continued into Inhumans vs. X-Men, when Strong Guy showed up in the background of fight scenes. When the X-Men went after the Inhumans, Strong Guy clearly wanted some. But he didn’t have any lines. He didn’t play any sort of important role. He was just there — for about half the series. Then he disappeared as quietly as he came.

You can read more on this in my first Strong Guy Watch post.

Now he’s back, with a beard. And Strong Guy Watch is dedicated to whichever Marvel staffer has taken it upon themselves to insist that Strong Guy show up. It’s a Marvelous little thing. I know I’m having fun.

Deadpool Gag Reel on a Rainy Memorial Day

I don’t know about you guys, but here in my neck of the woods, it’s raining cats and dogs on memorial Day. This probably means I won’t be going to any fun barbecues or picnics! What the heck, weather?!

Ah well. Let’s at least have a chuckle with a long last gag reel to last year’s Deadpool movie! Beware of wicked language.

Heh, now that was funny. Good times. Stupid rain.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/27/17

It’s not often that I like to toot my own horn about these comic book reviews. I’m nobody special. Just a comic book fan who likes to read comics and share my thoughts and opinions each week. But I noticed something rather interesting a few weeks ago — beginning with issue #3, I might be the only reviewer on the entire Internet who stuck with Mosaic.

See all those single reviews for issues 3-8? That’s just me. So I have been the only Internet comic reviewer chronicling the downfall of Mosaic. That’s just kind of weird. But it is an honor I take seriously.

Mosaic End 01

So alone…

It is with a kind of heavy heart that I must also be the only reviewer to chronicle the final issue of Mosaic. And you know what? It was a damn good issue, and I think I’ll give it Comic Book of the Week. Let it go out on a high note.

Comic Reviews: Infamous Iron Man #8, Jean Grey #2, Mosaic #8, and X-Men Blue #4.
