Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/2/17

Odd news, everybody! Due to a couple different factors this week, the review pile is kind of small. For one thing, it’s a fifth Wednesday, so there were already fewer books being released, and most of the comics that came out I’m way behind on. For another thing, I have been laid up with a pretty bad cold all week, and I just didn’t feel like reading a lot of comics. Oy, this stupid cold. My kingdom for a cure!

At any rate, I’ve only got two comics on the stack this week. I’m kind of taking it easy. And out of the two of them, Saban’s Go, Go Power Rangers wins Comic Book of the Week! It’s almost as much fun as the regular Power Rangers comic.

Not what it appears

Secret Empire came to an end this week, and I couldn’t care less. I like the ambition and the general idea, but the ending isn’t anything special and the whole adventure lost steam awhile ago. It was a little too huge in scope and didn’t really earn its earnestness.

Comic Reviews: Go, Go Power Rangers #2 and Infamous Iron Man #11.

Holy Cow! There is Robin Casting News!

I’ve lost track of a lot of superhero casting news in the past couple years, because there are just so many new shows and movies. But you best believe my ears are going to perk up when I hear that a live action Robin is going to be somewhere!

Actor Brenton Thwaites has been cast as Dick Grayson for the upcoming live action Teen Titans show, and he will indeed be Robin instead of Nightwing!

Apparently he starred in that new Pirates movie that nobody saw

I haven’t really given this show much thought, to be honest. I have no idea what to expect. But if Robin is going to be the star, with the show built around him coming out of Batman’s shadow, then I’m definitely on board! Let’s hope they can pull it off! Robin needs some quality live action adaptation!

6 Thoughts on The Defenders

Get ready for a lot of rants. That’s what I was doing by the time the end credits rolled for the final episode of The Defenders. This show was a huge letdown. Or maybe my expectations were too high. I was expecting something damn near as good as The Avengers. I was expecting something as good as the Daredevil TV show. I was expecting TV greatness! Instead, The Defenders is TV okayness.

Defenders Review List 01

TV Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good.

Oddly enough, nobody is talking about The Defenders anymore. The show is barely more than a week old, and was highly anticipated, but there’s been utter silence since that debut weekend. It doesn’t help that, the weekend after, we had this big Game of Thrones season finale. I’ve been hearing more and more anti-binge washing talks since releasing a show all at once has people talking about it just that once, but go back to a weekly schedule, like Game of Thrones, and people are talking about it all summer.

Maybe Netflix should switch to that model. Either way, join me after the jump for my thoughts on The Defenders TV show! And beware of SPOILERS!

Oh Hey, Inhumans Debuts This Weekend

Remember that Inhumans TV show that’s supposed to be coming out on ABC this Fall? Remember how it stinks? Well, all that stinking made me forget that the show was actually debuting in movie theaters first! And it’s this weekend!

Wild, right? And guess what! Inhumans will be airing at a theater near me this weekend! I think I’m gonna go see it and share my thoughts with you all. Could be fun!

Check Out The Wasp!

In honor of Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday, actor Evangeline Lilly shared the first picture of her in costume as the Wasp for the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel! She looks pretty great!

Wasp Picture 01

I like the costume, though I think it could use a bit more color. Ant-Man is probably my favorite movie superhero costume, and its red coloring really helps it to stand out. Wasp is just black with some tiny bits of color and piping. The costume could use a touch more pizzazz, you know what I’m saying?

Still, looks great! Can’t wait for Ant-Man and the Wasp!
