Stranger Things 2 is Just as Good!

I finally finished Stranger Things 2 the other day, and it’s really good! I enjoyed the show immensely. And here’s an Honest Trailer for Season 1!

I love me some good TV shows! Stranger Things definitely counts.

6 Thoughts on Thor: Ragnarok

Unlike apparently the entire rest of the world, I thoroughly enjoyed Thor: The Dark World. I don’t know when it became popular to hate on that movie because I remember all of us loving it just fine when it came out. Thor: The Dark World was not declared Marvel’s First Failure when it hit theaters so I think people only dislike it in hindsight.

But it doesn’t matter, because now we’ve got Thor: Ragnarok and the world is bright and beautiful again!

Ragnarok Review List 01

Movie Review: 8/10 – Very Good.

Obviously, Thor has never been the biggest franchise at Marvel. I’ve never been a particularly big Thor fan. So the third Thor movie was probably the perfect place to let a new, visionary director come in and make something really wild and amazing. I bet some studio executive somewhere decided Marvel needed to mix the manic, colorful energy of Guardians of the Galaxy with the Avengers characters directly, giving us director Taika Waititi’s gorgeous Ragnarok (also, if you haven’t seen his other movies, go see them!).

Join me after the jump for my takeaways from Thor: Ragnarok! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the movie!

The Next World of Warcraft Expansion Will Be Battle for Azeroth!

World of Warcraft expansions keep coming, and the next one sounds pretty big: Battle for Azeroth! I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty final to me. Though, Blizzard has not said this is the final expansion. But it does bring the classic Horde vs. Alliance war back to the forefront!

As always, we got a sweet cinematic trailer to go with the announcement!

And we got a trailer talking about the new additions to the game world. We’ll finally unlock Kul Tiras, which is cool.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) I’m in one of my off-periods for World of Warcraft. It’s one of my favorite video games of all time, and it’s a gameworld and lore I love to the very core of my being. But I can’t always afford to play or want to play. I haven’t even touched Legion, which will hopefully go on sale soon.

The expansion sounds cool, but the number one thing that will bring me back to WoW — new playable races — wasn’t announced for the third expansion in a row. The last new playable race we got were pandaren (which I loved, by the way).

Instead, the new expansion will have subraces. They look pretty cool. And I suppose this would give me a good reason to finally roll a proper dwarf and troll.

But I want to make an ogre, gosh darnit!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/4/17

I’m surprised they don’t have an issue of Mighty Thor on the stands this week. The big #700 issue dropped two weeks ago, but the big Thor: Ragnarok movie event is this weekend! And it’s a great movie! A ton of fun! I’ll be sharing my thoughts on Wednesday.

For now, how about a couple of comics? It was a very light week for me this week, with new issues of Iceman and Iron Fist, alongside the newly returned Captain America. Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman for another stellar issue in Tom King’s ongoing Catwoman romance storyline.

Bat Cat 01

Trouble in paradise already

I gave Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man one more chance this week, with the highly publicized issue of Spidey sitting down for an interview with longtime nemesis J. Jonah Jameson — but it didn’t work for me. The concept is interesting, but it doesn’t belong in this series at this moment.

Brian Michael Bendis will always have the definitive confrontation between the two characters in Ultimate Spider-Man. But too much weird stuff has gone on between the two characters in the 616 universe, a lot of which is referenced in the new issue, to make the confrontation as meaningful as it should be.

Comic Reviews: Batman #34, Captain American #695, Iceman #7 and Iron First #74.

We’re Getting More Ash vs. Evil Dead!

I was never all that big into the Evil Dead films, but I super love the TV show, Ash vs. Evil Dead!

You should all be watching this show, if you aren’t already. It’s a ton of gory, Bruce Campbell-based fun!
