Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/27/18

I think I might have been in a bad mood this week. I don’t think I was. I had a pretty nice week. Saw some movies. Did some work. Had lots of good times. But none of the comics this week really spoke to me, not Amazing Spider-Man or Batgirl, and definitely not Doomsday Clock!

Comic Book of the Week is going to be the new Detective Comics, for a big important story, but one I felt got a little too big. Still good, at least.

A Couple More Movie Trailers

I started this week by sharing a bunch of movie trailers, so I figured I’d end the week the same way, because a couple more came out!

Pacific Rim: Uprising gets a big new view with a ton of new information.

Still looks great!

Then we have I Kill Giants. I always meant to read the graphic novel, but I guess I’ll watch the movie instead!

Looks good! Hooray for movies!

Multiple Man Did Not Really Return…Yet…Again

A couple weeks ago, I got super hyped up because the dead Multiple Man made a cameo appearance in Phoenix Resurrection – The Return of Jean Grey. At the time, we didn’t know what these cameos meant and I got my hopes up that Jamie Madrox would finally come back to life!

Well the latest issue explains that all these dead X-Men cameos are just weird manifestations of the Phoenix. At least Multiple Man looks cool in red.

Madrox Maybe Returns 02

It’s at least a close visual proximation

Also, while we’re on the subject, why did they pick Colossus for the one-panel fight against Madrox? Strong Guy, Multiple Man’s best friend, is in that same group of X-Men fighting off these dead Phoenix manifestations. Not that this comic needs to address those characters in any way, but for a single throwaway panel, it would have been nice!

Looks like we go back to waiting for Multiple Man’s eventual return to comics.

In good news, Bleeding Cool ran an article a couple weeks ago about Marvel trademarking the name ‘Multiple Man’, so that’s got to be a good sign!

Also, while we’re on the subject of Phoenix Resurrection – The Return of Jean Grey, I really, really dislike Old Man Logan. He is just such a horrible character inserted into the regular Marvel Universe. It’s like everybody is just pretending he’s regular Logan!

On this page, Young Scott Summers has volunteered to go in and confront the Phoenix. But Old Man Logan talks him out of it for one specific reason:

Old Man Logan Sucks 01

He’s still not wearing a costume!

Are you kidding me?! She’s not your Jean Grey either, you stupid alternate reality character! I know this is being pedantic and nitpicky fanboyish of me, but the fact that everybody keeps treating Old Man Logan like he’s regular Wolverine really sticks in my craw. Did I miss some issue where he tricked everybody into thinking he was regular Wolverine, just really old? Do they not know he’s from an alternate reality?

6 DC Characters I Want to See in Injustice 3

I am currently stuck in a rut with the DC superhero fighting game Injustice 2. I like the series well enough, but I’ve never been a huge fan of fighting games in general. For this sequel, however, they introduced character leveling and loot boxes, and that’s where I’m stuck. Basically, you now earn new gear and equipment so your fighters can play dress-up!

Injustice 2 is a character redesign game, and I just have to grind through some fights to get new outfits for everybody!

Injustice 3 List 01

An evil Superman? Who’da thunk it

The outfits don’t mean anything. It’s not like I compete on any multiplayer level, or that I’ll be saving the outfits to share with anybody. I just like seeing all the superheroes dressed up in fancy new duds. Hopefully another video game will come along soon to break me out of this loot-grinding rut!

Until then, I’ve got a few ideas for what superheroes and villains need to appear in the next game, should they make an Injustice 3! Join me after the jump for my ideas!

Just So Many Trailers

Over the weekend, the universe dropped just so many trailers, you guys. I’ve loved watching movie trailers since the E! Network had a show called Coming Attractions back when I was a kid! It was literally a half-hour TV show that played movie trailers and I was a big fan. So I love sharing movie trailers on this ol’ blog o’mine!

First up, Tomb Raider.

Fun fact: I’ve never seen the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies. Or if I have, I have forgotten everything about them. And I never played the original Tomb Raider games either. The only Tomb Raider I’ve actually experienced have been the last two rebooted games, which are really fun. And the new movie is based on those games, so I have highish hopes.

Next up, Ash vs. Evil Dead, season 3!

Love this show. Can’t wait for the new season!

Third up is Super Troopers 2!

Loved the first movie, so I’m excited for the new one. But honestly, this trailer is kind of lame. Not the quality I expect. Hopefully the movie fares better.

Last is Rampage!

The Rock vs. a bunch of giant monsters with a nice quippy sense of humor? Yeah, sure, I’ll watch.

The Super Bowl is coming up, so more movie trailers are coming up! Brace yourselves!
